Starmer: Last year he lost a Torybeauty contest to Liz Truss, who then lost to a lettuce and when he finally came into contact with voters he lost everywhere. No matter who the electorate is, the PM keeps entering a 2 horse race and somehow finishing 3rd.

Ouch Keir. Harsh, but funny.

So the Tory 'attack' is coalition chaos and Labour not having policies? And some more name calling

I hear this a lot that Labour don't have any policies, which of course is demonstrably not true, but why don't the same people also say that the Tories don't have any policies except enriching their mates, see for example the reason announcement to employ a mate at great expense to put new phones into GPs surgeries?

Is the talk of a coalition, a bid to ensure people vote Labour to avoid it?

That's brilliant.
I'd be really proud of that if I were his speech writer.

Of course 😳 I should have guessed ☹️
All they are interested in is vandalising and looting the country, like a family destroyer ....if I can't have it I'll burn it all down

AdamRyan · 10/05/2023 12:50

I'm not sure the fear of a coalition is a vote winner any more. It just reminds me of May "strong and stable" - look how that ended up.

I think Sunak is being totally tone deaf not to acknowledge the absolute shambles of the LEs. Noone wants the Tories. He needs to be talking about what he's going to do to change their image, rather than attacking Labour. It just looks weak.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2023 13:01

I see Sunackered is trending on Twitter, we were well ahead of the curve with thread 19 Halo

Given how "strong" governments always end up, having some balanced tension is quite appealing. It should be noted that coalitions are rarely able to deliver the more extreme policies of the constituent parties.

18months out form a general election isn't it quite startling that the governing party has already admitted it is not going to win, and the best it can hope for his that someone else doesn't get a majority?

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2023 13:17

Lol, more empty words then

After the Prime Minister accuses Keir Starmer of plotting to form a coalition after the next general election, Rishi Sunak's spokesperson repeatedly refuses to rule out the PM doing exactly the same with the DUP or other parties if he loses their majority.

I'm finding it utterly ridiculous that we have another 12-18 months of this nonsense ahead of us.

borntobequiet · 10/05/2023 13:48

Sunak is bloody awful at PMQs. Strangely, I had expected him to be better than that. Yes, Starmer can be quite funny and has been improving steadily since becoming leader, though he’s not a natural on the front bench.

Drivel coming from the leader of a party that has had a recent coalition AND a confidence & supply arrangement with the DUP.

I swear they think we have the memory of goldfish.

Sunak didn't get anything become an MP because of any qualities he possessed beyond having gone to the right school, and known the right people.

Notonthestairs · 10/05/2023 14:12

"Sunak didn't get anything become an MP because of any qualities he possessed beyond having gone to the right school, and known the right people."

And was made chancellor because he'd take instruction from Cummings.

And of course it was his turn. They really messed up not electing Mordaunt.

borntobequiet · 10/05/2023 14:18

Mordaunt is good at standing around holding things and looking decorative, but she’s a monumental dimwit.

Blossomtoes · 10/05/2023 14:21

She’d have done considerably better than either of the people who pulled dirty tricks to lose her votes.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2023 14:22

She also is happy to accept donations from climate change deniers

There are lots of things they out to stay away from. Sunak accused labour of trying to ruin the economy even though they weren’t in power.

Which is a bit rich from the party that gave us brexit and Liz truss.

Notonthestairs · 10/05/2023 15:56

Probably inappropriate to include this her but WTF?

We have apologised to the family of Daniel Morgan after documents were found.

Some of these should have been disclosed to the inquiry into his murder.

We are working with others to fully understand the impact.

Message below states that the documents were discovered in January. A journalist found out a few days ago hence them coming clean now.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2023 16:02

It was linked by Rafa earlier today. It is shocking but then the whole case is.

Fuuuuuuuuck

itsgettingweird · 10/05/2023 16:46

I loathe the phrase 'the will of the people'.

Absolutely. It's the cowards way out.

"We are doing things that are extremely questionable humans rights wise and probably illegal but - 'it's what you all asked us to do'".

He's actually very witty. Grin
