Trump has been found guilty of sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll, he has/had plenty of cheerleaders amongst the current government.

Can’t wait for the rant he’s about to have. There will be one because it’s obviously a conspiracy to put people off voting for him.

GBNews have been rapped over the knuckles by ofcom for promoting anti vax stuff. Clearly there are some things ofcom feels like reprimanding them for even if it doesn’t consider them a news channel.

This won’t be too much of a surprise. DHSC don’t have the money to pay for the NHS pay deal they negotiated. I suppose it’s good news that they have given the trusts the money to pay for it but the DHSC will be going over their budget to pay for it. I presume that means some cuts somewhere next year unless the treasury approve a budget increase to pay for it.

Rwanda bill will be discussed in the Lords today. Braverman & Chalke have an opinion piece in the Times stating Rwanda legislation reflects "the will of the people".

Personally I'm not convinced spending £140 million on 200 asylum seekers and in return welcoming Rwanda's applicants is the "will of the people" but what do I know.

I suppose it makes the Archbishop of Canterbury, the King and Lord Dannatt ex head of British army unpatriotic.

I'd like to think they had worked out the budget increase necessary in advance - otherwise they have effectively decided to cut services and leave the mess for the next government and that doesn't sound like them at all.

Roussette · 10/05/2023 08:48

I loathe the phrase 'the will of the people'.

It's what the Tories use incessantly when either trying to pushing something through or when they are on shaky ground.

There should be more publicity about the Rwandans who are coming here in return.

It was a crap deal by a Government trying to appeal to the worst element of the voting public

Roussette · 10/05/2023 08:55

And isn't it just galling that the revolting Mogg is defending Trump and keeps saying 'not guilty' on rape charges. Let alone sexual assault WTAF. He has some dreadful American woman on and they both agree it is a witch hunt and 'they are going after Trump unfairly'.

This is the man who disagrees with abortion even in the case of rape and incest. How dare he.

Notonthestairs · 10/05/2023 09:03

Yes I've just seen JRM interviewing the Kari Lake and Farage on GB Right Wing Entertainment Tonight. Each speaking in support of Trump.
The moral majority speaks.
Or at least Republican money speaks.

L1ttledrummergirl · 10/05/2023 09:05

Anyone who can defend someone who has been found to have committed a sexual assault is lower than the low, but we know that the conservatives are constantly digging deeper.

Trump is the finest upstanding male who said:

Trump: "Yeah that's her with the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."
Bush: "Whatever you want."
Trump: "Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."

(Transcript from a clip in 2005)

A witch hunt my arse.

Notonthestairs · 10/05/2023 09:11

For anyone interested in the influence of American money & "National Conservatism" - JRM will be speaking at their conference as will John Hayes and Braverman.
And I'm fairly sure Badenoch visited them in Washington last year although I'd need to check that.

On the subject of Rwanda the Institute of Government produced this which asks some pertinent questions -

www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/publication/illegal-migration-bill

"The bill is based on an idea of deterrence – that a harsher system will put people off travelling to the UK – that lacks any robust evidence. It will be challenged in the courts and lead to a confrontation with the ECHR. Without increased capacity to remove people, classifying ever more arrivals as inadmissible will not help the government reduce the backlog or the money spent on accommodation – or improve public trust in the immigration system. And at a human level, it has the potential to cause serious harm to vulnerable people. "

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/05/2023 09:23

The NatCs conference is this week isn’t it. I’ve lost track of days.

The judge in the Trump case had to warn the jurors not to make their identity known either now or for some time in the future. That’s definitely the sign of a properly functioning democracy.

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/05/2023 09:28

Incidentally I’ve had to queue to get a gp appointment . I’m not sure listening to phone music for 15minutes is any better than the phone just ringing.

I was only 5 in the queue but I have never been more than 1 in the queue until a year ago. The government need to do something proper to sort this out. If the GPS could they would. Since my surgery already have a phone system and online bookingI presume they won’t be seeing a penny of this money.

Saucery · 10/05/2023 09:40

My GP has had a phone queuing system for donkeys' years. Still doesn't help the situation of needing an appt.

Rees Mogg is beyond parody. They all are and I have been a Conservative voter in the past. This lot bear no resemblance to the core values of Tory, however much they spout empty 3 word slogans.

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/05/2023 10:51

same here. I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment except due the last 18months. Usually with the same GP.
The one that’s going to phone today will be the 4th GP I’ve seen for the and issue in 6 weeks. It’s not right and if isn’t really their fault. If my usually brilliant surgery is struggling it must be awful in places where they weren’t struggling before.

I guess the local election results tell us quite clearly that it is the will of the people?

Perhaps Rishi knows that deterrence works because if there had been a more serious penalty for his repeated law breaking he would not have kept doing it?

Omg, PMQs, Sunak is fucking obtuse. Answer the questions, this playground politics is pathetic, and repeating the same crap over and over shows how out of touch with the electorate he is.
No accountability whatsoever.

It's all going over his head, he is so out of his depth.
Yet again no answers. Pathetic.

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/05/2023 12:18

I saw on Twitter this morning that he snuck out of a side door to avoid some local journalists.

For a guy who’s all about honesty, integrity and accountability he doesn’t like answering questions much.

Hitler was very careful to avoid journalists, as I recall.

Not publicity - just journalists.

So the Tory 'attack' is coalition chaos and Labour not having policies? And some more name calling
