🧵 👁️

"This is intriguing. Why is there just 1 Council out of 230 outstanding?

Redcar Council👇🏻 says that they’ve agreed to delay a third recount of Longbeck ward until Tuesday morning

According to Teeside Live, Longbeck ward is where CURRENT Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner is also standing to be a Tory councillor (is it usual to double job?)

AND also standing is his wife Andrea for the Tories

Turner was selected by his wife 🧐

I'm assuming that they Tory's haven't got in?

It'll be an absolute shit storm if at the 4th time of counting they find a vote or 2 and the leadership changes.

Very interesting comments on Twitter about this.

Watching with interest

The government being a bunch of corrupt arseholes is just a minor side issue then?

DuncinToffee · 07/05/2023 09:41

Well yes, everything is absolutely fine, "We are delivering...Rishi is delivering...knocking on doorsteps and people love us"

The Tories actually poll pretty well on Ukraine in comparison to other issues. But I suppose she had to come out with some shit or other.

I think John Redwood might come to regret tweeting this

If taxes have to be this high why are public services not better?

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 07/05/2023 10:31

It’s a good question, John.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2023 10:52

Haha. Brilliant question John. Now imagine quite how bad they would be with even less money.

Wow a Tory who has worked out what the public are thinking. And John Redwood to boot.

I suppose a stopped clock is right a couple of times a day.

For fuck’s sake. The Met arrested the city of westminsters night safety team on Friday night for being in possession of rape alarms. They literally give them out to women at night. Allegedly they’d received intelligence that people were planning to use rape alarms to scare the horses. But it’s the Met so they may be covering their own arses with that excuse. These are council volunteers.

Statement on Night Stars volunteers | Westminster City Council

Councillor Aicha Less, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Protection, said:

The Met arrested the city of westminsters night safety team on Friday night for being in possession of rape alarms.

Presumably to make it easier for their rapist policemen pals then ?

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/05/2023 18:14

I’d imagine so.

The Met police tweet and their statement currently says ‘use rape alarms to scare the horses’ . The original one apparently said ‘throw rape alarms.’ You could throw anything though surely.

And you’d think the high viz vest with Westminster city council on would be a clue as to why they had lots of them. Especially because the scheme is approved by the Met and the vests also have their logo on.

Yeah I can see why the Met wouldn't want women having rape alarms, tbf.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/05/2023 19:36

It would make things more difficult for them.

Somebody is doing nicely..

"Britain’s privatised water and sewage companies paid £1.4bn in dividends in 2022, up from £540mn the previous year, despite rising household bills and a wave of public criticism over sewage outflows…."

The Met have apologised for arresting the 6 members of the republicans they arrested and have cancelled their bail. Haven’t seen anything about the night safety workers.

Comically, they don’t seem to have charged them for having things that they could use to lock onto things with on the basis that they couldn’t prove that was their intent. Which seems to be the sort of issue you’d think somebody would have identified before they made the law. Unless the intent was to just lock people up for hours and then release them without charge.

borntobequiet · 09/05/2023 08:45

David Davis was being very sensible about this on the Today programme. If he hadn’t been such a rabid Brexiter anyone would have thought he was a decent politician.

DuncinToffee · 09/05/2023 09:06

So apparently there is going to be a new GPs telephone system to make it easier for patients to contact their GP and end the 8am rush, with £240m given to practices across England to embrace the latest technology

Details are a bit difficult to find but not sure how this will deal with GP shortages.

The online booking system they had before Covid worked fine. But that wouldn't allow them to funnel taxpayers cash to a mates firm would it ?
