I do not think the local election results so far point to a Labour majority government. In 18 months time the serial killing in all but name and parties of Mr Johnson's time will have largely been forgotten, inflation will be a bit lower, and you then have to factor in the impact of ID for voting which will help the Tories. The SNP implosion will be less of a factor too.

I do not think.

Well quite.

DuncinToffee · 05/05/2023 13:43

Mr Johnson's time will have largely been forgotten

Wishful thinking

The damage he has done will take a long time to be forgotten

right, cup of tea made, time to catch up with the thread Brew

Lib Deb update from Stratford upon Avon - just beaten the Conservative Leader of council
This is Zahawi's parliamentary seat

Conservatives lose Bromsgrove to NOC - dropping seats to both Labour & Lib Dems. The parliamentary seat is Sajid Javid's
Jarvis is standing down at the next election

Javid, not Jarvis

You may well be right.
The Tories have lost 33.1% of the seats they held before today that were contested.
If they lost 33.1% of their parliamentary seats then they will have done well to hold onto the remaining 236 seats.

Labour have taken Swindon too. One of their MPs is Robert Buckland.

I don't think anyone will be forgetting Johnson or Truss in a hurry. I really don't.

This is up to date

What have they been doing all day?!

Just in case anyone was worried, Greg Hands has just tweeted the letter again. Poor Greg. He really is in denial.

Good question, they closed a leisure centre for it.

We are always one of the last to declare.

The Russian cash cow has dried up then.

They've even got an article on a fat-shamed cartoon dog. But literally nothing on the local elections.

Tories have lost west Devon. I’m hoping the rest of the blue down here goes the same way.

The image of Sunaks grinning mug next to Johnson raising a glass stood in the doorway at a party with pixilated images, alongside the Queen grieving in the church, meeting new PMTruss, her funeral service. A few well chosen words about fpns, mortgage rate price hikes, fuel bills doubling and I'm pretty sure I'll remember everything about the last few years.

DuncinToffee · 05/05/2023 15:19

Tories have done well in Slough

In Slough, however, it looks very different, with Labour losing the council to no coverall control.
The Tories got a great result, gaining a whopping 16 seats, while Labour lost 18 seats. The Lib Dems also won three seats on the council.
It's not a small victory for the Tories there - they have gone from just five seats to being the largest party, which is a bright spot in the worrying picture that has emerged in the South. Sky News

If anyone thinks I'm going to forget about our mortgage or energy payments or strike action they'd be sorely mistaken.

A heck of a lot more than you can see on that screen shot. That's just the first window. Welcome to the glimpse inside the mind of someone with ADHD. My computer is in therapy!

It’s difficult to forget how shit the current government is when you can’t put food on the table to feed your kids. Something it probably should have considered when they went for sowing divisions in the country. It’s not generally a good idea to piss off both sides of the division you’ve created.?
