Probably only specific and limited frauds over a few billion pounds don't count.

And that weren't reasonable to commit.

I think it is important to ask where the fraudster went to school in order to determine whether or not they should like Raab be allowed to be their own judge and jury.
For instance if they went to Eton or Winchester then of course they are fine upstanding chaps. If however they went to Harrow or Dulwich one can be less sure.

DuncinToffee · 03/05/2023 18:35

Bravermand and Sunak have attended a fraud masterclass today, the replies Grin

It is just too funny. They must have a policy advisor in No 10 who’s just trolling them.

How did they not see how this was going to go? They’re bloody useless.

I'm confused. Surely Sunak, Braverman, Johnson et al are a fraud masterclass?

they're just inept wannabes, they'd need to be far more on the ball to make it as fraudsters

Ah, so you are saying they are not the masterminds behind the Brexit fraud?

Who is then?

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2023 21:13

Oh for heavens sakes - voter ID crucial to prevent fraud, now staff told to "be flexible" and consider accepting expired ID.

Nothing like giving clear, helpful instructions likely to be implemented consistently across the country.

Nothing like that at all.

Well, I am sure that the polling station staff will, much like the police, find it very easy to pick out those who absolutely must have the correct ID and those who perhaps they can ignore.

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2023 21:33

Who is going to sign up to work at polling stations if the guidance is so a) questionable and b) likely to trigger arguments.

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/05/2023 23:16

polling station staff should show leeway if voters’ photo doesn’t look like their current appearance according to that article.

So rather than taking the option suggested a few weeks ago of postponing it for this election they’re going with you need photo ID but the photo doesn’t have to look like you. And this is supposed to reduce voter fraud? You could not make this stuff up.

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2023 23:28

Leaving assessment of ID to staff discretion will inevitably lead to the policy being implemented inconsistently.

Wait for the umpteen complaints and corresponding newspaper articles.

Another poorly thought out policy wasting £200 million of local councils money - still it's not like those councils are cash strapped or anything.

A friend of mine is standing in Southampton tomorrow (labour). She is an incredibly amazing woman and I really hope she gets the votes. I'm in another part of the country though so have only been able to give moral support.

I so hope she does well, they will be lucky people.

I'm not commenting on the ID issue, what can we say that hasn't already been said?

Just in case, you can get an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on polling day.

Good luck to your friend L1ttledrummergirl. Local politics can be a thankless task.

I'm off to vote later.

InMySpareTime · 04/05/2023 08:56

DS just managed to vote even though the photo on his provisional license is from when he was 13 (and looked about 9), and he's now 21. She did chuckle a bit when she looked at the ID though.
