What's the most stuck up place you've been to?

Having just recently seen a video of a young man doing a video of Farnham on TikTok saying it's Tory and stuck up etc.

I was wondering if you've come across any town that has had stuck up people and what was your thoughts on such a place?

Harrogate.
Looking for a house.
We were moving up from London.
Told the agent our budget and what we wanted.
She stuck her nose up and said you won't get that for your budget, did you think it would be cheaper here?
Dh asked her to pick out details for 4 homes. Thanked her and as we left he caught her eye and shoved the details in the waste bin outside.

North Norfolk not coming out of this too well as I came on to nominate Cley-next-the-Sea (near Burnham Market and Holt, already mentioned)

PolkaDotMankini · 13/04/2023 20:34

I like York.

Blackpool pleasure beach

What?! How?!! @whatsyourpoison12

TrashPanda20 · 13/04/2023 20:37

Newbury. God knows why but it thinks it's something it's really not.

You would't have thought a really posh woman would be working as a barmaid would you?

Cool story though.

Your classism is showing....

DancingWithTheMoonlitKnight · 13/04/2023 20:41

Burnham Market
Salcombe

We went to a lovely little island just off Cannes....walked around it all, roasting hot, needed a cool drink and some food. We walked into a restaurant literally on the beach and sat down, waiting for one of the young waiting staff to take our order. And we waited...and waited...and no one came near us. They approached other tables and totally ignored us. Obviously we hadn't just came off a mega yacht, as some people were doing!!! We were just ordinary punters. Who gave up and walked out.

Bastards

What was the island?

To everyone saying North Norfolk - you are right. And here is 'proper' Norfolk's response to it:

Hated York.

Full of nothing but rude entitled people.

Concur with this. Grew up here but we’ve been over run with tossers in the last ten years.

arapunzel · 13/04/2023 20:44

Chichester. So much rudeness and entitlement

BooperKisses · 13/04/2023 20:44

A small village close to Yeovil in Somerset… spent a summer there about 30 years ago, me DH and DC aged 18 months.
A lot of new money and Range Rovers… we were frozen out of baby groups, nobody spoke to us and I cried to go home. Utterly miserable.

Chowtime · 13/04/2023 20:45

Stratford upon Avon - the locals, not the tourists, obviously.

DappledThings · 13/04/2023 20:45

Solihull. Grew up there, so.many people obsesed with everyone knowing they are not Birmingham and cross that they share the 0121 phone code.

And not quite stuck up but I've never felt as judged for what I was wearing as when I went on a night out in Omagh. Flatmate one was from there and, like her best friend, was obsessed with her clothes and had a very unhealthy relationship with food. Flatmate 2 (from Derry) and I were astounded by how dressed up everyone was for a normal Saturday night and thought it made the eating issues and clothing obsession make more sense.

arethereanyleftatall · 13/04/2023 20:46

I knew my town would be on here 😂😂😂

Charlottewebsbabies · 13/04/2023 20:47

I'm from york-i agree that some parts can be snooty and others not
But Haxby (just outside york) is the most stuck up place I've ever been
They all seemed to look down on us and each and every person seemed to think/treated us like we where Oliver twist urchins
When I watch 'keeping up appearances' it reminds me of Haxby-hyacinth bucket would have loved it there
All fur coat and not a stitch of knickers

Crikeyalmighty · 13/04/2023 20:48

Cobham, Knutsford, harpenden and the north Norfolk places mentioned (and I live in Bath- which is way more mixed than you might think if you live here)

Windingdown · 13/04/2023 20:49

Dunster. Feudal.

Hintofreality · 13/04/2023 20:51

Sevenoaks is inhabited by a special breed of stuck up dicks with over inflated egos.

Florissante · 13/04/2023 20:51

I've never encountered anywhere that was particularly stuck-up. But I don't have a chip on my shoulder.

Love Farnham. How can you judge a town from TikTok?

MiniTheMinx · 13/04/2023 20:52

Ditchling in East Sussex. All of them up their own bum holes.

Chichester and Horsham are lovely.

UrbanMan27 · 13/04/2023 20:54

@ArcticBells search for RobColf on there (TikTok). He says what he thinks of Farnham and Surrey in general

We accidentally went to York when the races were on. Very far from posh although a lot of money was been flashed about!

I was going to suggest North Norfolk which progressively gets more posh as you go up the coast from Cromer, peaks in the corner and then gets slummier as you head to King's Lynn. Bizarre to see if you are doing your holiday travelling around the coast.
