Mumsnet “norms” that annoy you most

For me it’s the utterly obscure baby names. We’ve all seen them and I’m quite sure nobody uses them in real life. Yet on MN, it’s apparently standard.

Honourable mention to the 50% of posters whose husbands are earning upwards of £100K too.

LTB

Go low/no contact at the drop of a hat

sweatynoob · 31/03/2023 22:03

When they drop in that their child has ‘mild’ sen - what does that even mean and its an ‘educational’ need if its sen?

The obsessive hygiene levels.

More accurately, the pretense of obsessive hygiene levels.

Any variation of "get a grip".

Maybe you should go to the grip shop and stock up

I've been to the grip shop if you want a spare one

Etc

lv884 · 31/03/2023 22:06

“LTB” for something that’s annoying rather than abusive, instead of simply communicating with the man you married/father of your children etc.

Endless Numbers of showers

And a clean towel for each body part, every time

Spouses and children with non-descript but v v important "hobbies" that are too identifying to be mentioned on a public forum. Said hobbies always cause massive disruption to family life, yet cannot possibly be named.

It’s cycling. Always.

RagingWoke · 31/03/2023 22:07

Never answering the phone or door. I assume most of these posters spend all their time in a dark house, curtains drawn and lying on the floor in silence.

PuppyMonkey · 31/03/2023 22:07

Hate that everybody on here loves gravy.

NewNameNigel · 31/03/2023 22:07

People randomly posting on the step parenting forums saying that blended families never work, ignoring the fact that the blended family only exists because the original families didn't work either.

The weirdness about taking in neighbours parcels. Isn't this just a normal neighbourly thing to do?

Mixkle · 31/03/2023 22:08

When someone asks for support about X and people demand to know every little irrelevant detail about their personal life out of sheer nosiness.

lljkk · 31/03/2023 22:08

male-bashing

Yes, as if it's normal to cut contact with your own mother because she's a bit annoying!

I can’t stomach the stuff.

Animallover87 · 31/03/2023 22:09

Any minor behaviour issue with children must be SEN.

ohyouknowwhatshername · 31/03/2023 22:10

Are you sure you're not on the spectrum? Have you been assessed?

Actually that sounds quite appealing

HoneyPotBee · 31/03/2023 22:12

Nothing about MN is normal

Stormydanielss · 31/03/2023 22:12

I was just going to say as above pp slightest thing, sounds like they have autism or adhd
No wonder people struggle to get diagnosed properly

Easterfunbun · 31/03/2023 22:12

Sounds just like ADHD, have you considered that?

Bananananas · 31/03/2023 22:13

The only acceptable university is a Russell group university.

ohyouknowwhatshername · 31/03/2023 22:13

Landlord = evil
SAHMs = lazy / stupid
WMs = obv don't care enough about their children

Growlybear83 · 31/03/2023 22:14

The abbreviations! Is it really so difficult to write husband, daughter, father, or friend?

AliceTheeCamel · 31/03/2023 22:15

Parking/bin issues with your neighbours? Don't like their tree? Just move house!

Simple.
