Trigger warning - incomprehensible tragedy

Two beautiful little boys strangled, and mother hung, and the boys looked so well cared for and loved, plenty of toys, nice clothes, lovingly photographed

I just cant bear to think of what went on in that house in those last moments, those poor poor children

How can this happen? How was this impossible to see coming?

Does make you wonder why people do this sort of thing.

Nimbostratus100 · 25/03/2023 10:40

I just cant help thinking surely there were signs that this was coming, I don't know that though, Maybe it was completely out of the blue. WHat sort of signs would there be?

Cowardness and inadequate is the usual theory when it's a man.

This will be put down to mental health though probably

DoormatBob · 25/03/2023 10:54

I saw this when it was first reported and noted that it hadn't been mentioned on MN, only weeks after a man murdered his family.

Be clear, this woman murdered 2 children. If there were signs would anyone really see them?

BlackBarbies · 25/03/2023 10:56

Wow, this is so sad. Is it that the mum strangled her son’s and then hung herself? Or was someone else involved? Either way this is so horrific. Those poor kids

It says in the news article that no one else seems to be involved.

Absolutely terrible, those boys didn’t deserve that at all

smashinggrapes · 25/03/2023 11:00

Of course they didn't deserve it. What a weird thing to say. Yes there were signs, her Facebook page is a fucking mess.

Sadly it has become so commonplace to share shitty "self-care" quotes on social media that nobody bothers to pay attention when someone is clearly not right.

BungleandGeorge · 25/03/2023 11:02

So sad. Who knows what was going on for her. I can’t believe anyone is in their right mind to do this, but often nobody really cares until after the event

Cirque1 · 25/03/2023 11:13

I know it's a cliché, but I am sure she had mental health problems. Those boys seemed to be really well-cared for and it was obvious by her Facebook how proud she was of them.

This is of course not an excuse.

Badger1970 · 25/03/2023 11:15

Because the simple answer is that there are just too many families like this to even attempt to support. The system can't cope. And people choose to have kids regardless of whether or not their MH is up to it. Being a parent of young children is relentless, thankless and often exhausting - even when you're mentally well. Add this onto someone who is already struggling with life - it often ends up in a crisis.

I think as a society we all need to be alot more honest about the realities of raising kids. It's not all rainbows and unicorns, and Instagram moments.

Well the Met aren't looking for anyone else so I think we are allowed to reasonably assume it was a murder/suicide.
I want to say its absolutely heart wrenching but those words and the meaning behind them don't even seem within a billion miles of covering it.
Such beautiful little boys. I will also say I do feel heartily sorry for their mother. She can't have been in her right frame of mind. She must have been in an absolute turmoil. Alexander and Maximus were only 7 and 9 not much more than babies really. They were still innocent and uncurupted they will have eternal rest. I just pray their mother finds peace too. I hope God can forgive her and she can be with her boys.
Their poor dad though. My heart is broken for him (again doesn't even come close to describing it) and having to identify their little bodies.

When women do this, there are usually a
very different reasons for it than when men do it.

This times 1 million.!!! You look on Instagram and everyone one seems to have perfect lives. Over here on planet reality life ain't like that.

Not a weird thing to say at all. No child should be killed in any circumstance, especially not by a parent. There’s nothing weird in highlighting that

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 25/03/2023 11:22

I think it's the use of the word "deserve" is odd perhaps because it implies an alternative would be more fitting or a victim had done something to justify a course of action. Which of course isn't the case as this was innocent children.

A horrible, horrible case. Their poor dad.

It is a weird thing to say because it goes without saying they didn’t deserve it. People are weird and say weird shit.

BlackBarbies · 25/03/2023 11:27

Well then so sorry for the inappropriate word of ‘deserve’

smashinggrapes · 25/03/2023 11:31

@BlackBarbies it's the use of the word "deserve" that's weird. It implies that they "deserved something but not that".

As for people saying her fbook showed how much she loved them, I don't know what they're looking at. Her fbook showed someone who was extremely angry with her ex and struggling to cope with a break up. All consumed by it. Plus sharing some very strange and distasteful images and posts.

BornBlonde · 25/03/2023 11:31

Utterly tragic

I'm sorry but Facebook posts are not proof of anything - some of the shittiest people/parents I know constantly post happy smiling photos and lovely words about how much they love their family etc. Then when you see them in real life it's the complete opposite. I haven't seen this woman's posts but she was clearly mentally unwell to murder both of her children. Very sad.

Nimbostratus100 · 25/03/2023 11:41

how are people able to see what she posted on face book? Thats strange

Because the usual mumsnet ghouls go and look I suppose. It’s a bit of gossip for them. They’re sick.

smashinggrapes · 25/03/2023 11:48

Her Facebook has been shared by news outlets at the time, its wide open and they've used it to "report" on the story. Nothing to do with being a "ghoul", simply reading the fucking trash newspapers print.

Nimbostratus100 · 25/03/2023 11:50

if the facebook was "wide open" was there anything that was seen before hand that could have prevented this? Not that it is facebooks responsibility, obviously.

I am just struggling to understand how it came to this.
