Things that are socially acceptable but you wish they were not

I feel like a bit of a man. For me:

Men pissing by the side of the road. I have see this twice in the past few days, yet there were public loos close by. If a woman did this people would question her sanity, or at the very least think she was undignified yet for men it's considered normal.

Men going shirtless in public. Do what you like in your own garden, but why walk down the high street etc without a shirt. It's never that hot in England - in fact some much hotter climates actually have dignity laws that prohibit both men and women from even showing their arms or legs. Plus you know, sun burn.

Smoking. I hate walking behind someone who is smoking, it blows back in the face of the person behind and gives me a headache. It's unhealthy, expensive and should just be banged in public full stop imo.

And men pissing just about anywhere! I was walking down a busy highstreet and a man was just pissing there! We were right next to the tube and it has toilets inside! And just across the road was a park, he could have nipped across & pissed in an actual bush instead of on the street like a fucking dog. And thats not the first time I’ve seen that.

NellyNoName · 24/03/2023 18:37

Drag acts.

lieselotte · 24/03/2023 18:37

Definitely topless men. It's pretty yucky especially when they have a beer belly. Also on trains in summer they get on and you can smell sweaty flesh. Yuck. I've also see guys running at our local track without their tops on - they'd actually be cooler in their t-shirts wicking away the sweat.

IconicKitty · 24/03/2023 18:39

Also spitting - not socially acceptable per say but lots (of men) do it.

This is in a work context but I hate how appropriate it has become to be on your mobile/laptop during meetings (when it's not for the purpose of taking notes which is fine in principle except so many people use it as a cover for pissing around on the internet)

LakeTiticaca · 24/03/2023 18:40

Going shopping in pyjamas, slippers and dressing gown. Always women. Never see blokes doing it

Kranke · 24/03/2023 18:40

People voicing an opinion on how you choose to feed your baby.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/03/2023 18:41

Increasingly it's become social acceptable to be scrolling your phone in company or to be using your phone for social reasons in work - both are rude

ichundich · 24/03/2023 18:42

Agree with topless men (and boys). People letting their dogs jump up on others. Idling (in the car). Going out in joggers / leggings (I'm old.)

MerryMarigold · 24/03/2023 18:42

Clothes that fit like clingfilm, visible nipples, visible thongs, thongs on the beach. Call me a prude but Dave it for your lover, because I don't want to see it all hanging out!

MerryMarigold · 24/03/2023 18:43

Not Dave, SAVE. But if Dave is your lover, save it for him.

Gosh, which tube station was that? The toilets at my local ones have been closed for years!

Anjo2011 · 24/03/2023 18:44

People constantly taking photos, videos on their phones.

Yes, I do hot yoga and there are always topless men in there and it just winds me up so much! You aren't any cooler, I don't want to see you topless. Especially in such a sweaty environment. It just feels very overbearing.

anythinginapinch · 24/03/2023 18:44

Loud anything. Music, voices, banging doors, kids ...

Daffodilwoman · 24/03/2023 18:44

Yes to all of the above.
As for mobile phones-urgh! Stop answering your phone during an appointment with me, it’s bloody rude. Should I just answer my personal phone during your appointment? I have been known to stop, look pointedly at my watch and tell the client ‘ you now have 10 minutes left.’

I was going to say this too, it's disgusting and some people just seem to stand and instead of swallowing their saliva just spit it out every few minutes.

LakeTiticaca · 24/03/2023 18:45

Smoking weed in public, or anywhere tbh.

HelloWorldMessage · 24/03/2023 18:45
  • drag acts
  • gender ideology
  • smoking/vaping
  • loud telephone conversations in public places
  • playing videos/music from your phone in public places without headphones
  • race to the bottom "victim status" mentality on social media
  • "he's my rock" type posts on social media
  • in fact - just social media in general!
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/03/2023 18:45

Ringtones that are song lyrics - particularly when the persons phone never stops

mum2jakie · 24/03/2023 18:46

Vaping (yes it's not tobacco but it still stinks), spitting and smoking weed everywhere nowadays!

Wallingtonhall · 24/03/2023 18:46

People having their phones and speaker and walking about having loud conversations to their phones.

MysweetAudrina · 24/03/2023 18:46

I really don't understand what is wrong with topless men. Plenty in my hot yoga class. What's so wrong with the human body that it offends people?

Indoorcatmum · 24/03/2023 18:48

Hugging and cheek-kissing strangers.

Offering/sharing a sip of your drink to try.

Foods that smell in the cinema.

Wallingtonhall · 24/03/2023 18:48

Barbecues in public spaces.
