Things that are socially acceptable but you wish they were not

I feel like a bit of a man. For me:

Men pissing by the side of the road. I have see this twice in the past few days, yet there were public loos close by. If a woman did this people would question her sanity, or at the very least think she was undignified yet for men it's considered normal.

Men going shirtless in public. Do what you like in your own garden, but why walk down the high street etc without a shirt. It's never that hot in England - in fact some much hotter climates actually have dignity laws that prohibit both men and women from even showing their arms or legs. Plus you know, sun burn.

Smoking. I hate walking behind someone who is smoking, it blows back in the face of the person behind and gives me a headache. It's unhealthy, expensive and should just be banged in public full stop imo.

Spitting. Saw a man gob a full mouthful of phlegm out of his car window earlier. 🤢

Men farting loudly, without so much as a pardon me, as if it's absolutely fine to fill a room with your arse gas and nobody will mind.

People letting their poorly trained mutts run up to strangers and jump up at them. That's apparently acceptable, but if I say "your dog has just wrecked my clothing" or mention anything about leashing the unruly beast, I'M in the wrong.

Drag shows. Hate them. Think they're incredibly insulting and sexist.

Anything without headphones.

Surrogacy

Chilloutsnow · 24/03/2023 18:53

Over the past 5 years or so I’ve noticed in certain work contexts it’s okay for the women to openly fart. Now men may do this but I work mostly with women. I just find it gross to be honest but no one really bats an eyelid.

When meeting someone new they ask your name and what you do for a living as if your job defines your personality. I wish they ask what my hobbies or interests are instead.

MajorCarolDanvers · 24/03/2023 18:57

Some of these things are already not socially acceptable.

Peeing in the street is not only not acceptable it's illegal. You can get fined for it.

Going out in pjs may happen but it's not socially acceptable.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/03/2023 18:58

Getting totally pissed and incapable/aggressive/both, in public.

merrymelodies · 24/03/2023 19:00

Mmmmm! Topless men. If they're fit, obviously

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 24/03/2023 19:01

People at concerts/gigs who video the whole event on their camera phones, rather than enjoy the music spontaneously. It just annoys me.

SweetSakura · 24/03/2023 19:01

Vaping (well I'm not sure it's exactly socially acceptable, but I wish it was banned)

Riverlee · 24/03/2023 19:06

Visible bra straps
Nipple shape protruding

Filming or taking photographs in theatre etc

People referring to everyone using a Christian names. Sometimes I don’t want every Tom, Dick and Harry to use my first name

CocoFifi · 24/03/2023 19:08

Lip injections

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/03/2023 19:11

I don’t think men pissing by the side of the road is socially acceptable though. Like spitting. Not to say people don’t do it.

Phone conversations / games / watching TV without headphones. How does anyone think this is OK??

Leggings that cling to every contour of your arse to the extent that if your leggings were skin coloured you’d look naked. It’s just…way too much.

Having a conversation while scrolling on your phone. Put it down.

Labelling normal feelings of anxiety about something as ‘I have anxiety’. No you don’t, you’re anxious about your presentation. It’s normal.

Diagnosing yourself as dyslexic, ADHD, anxious and constantly referring to it. Eve. If you are, no one wants it crowbarred into every conversation.

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/03/2023 19:12

Oh yeah, and over pumped lips. You are a human not a duck.

DressDilemma · 24/03/2023 19:13

Eating animal products

Beeinmybonnets · 24/03/2023 19:15

men abandoning their children and failing to pay proper child support or look after then for a decent % of time

Dontfencemein · 24/03/2023 19:18

People getting so drunk that they throw up on the street.

PlumberProblems · 24/03/2023 19:19

Yes I agree with topless men it's what sprang to mind before I even clicked on your post.

I also agree with smoking/vaping/weed. I will admit I do a very passive aggressive "eugh that's disgusting/stinks" face and a dramatic waft it away from my face so they get the picture that other people shouldn't have to be subjected to their disgusting life choices.

When people have really loud conversations in public and clearly want everyone else to hear what they're saying. No one actually cares.

ReadtheReviews · 24/03/2023 19:22

If you have a visitor, to carry on watching tv or having a conversation which excludes them.
Same vein, having a conversation with someone and then turning your back on them when someone you know better turns up, as opposed to including them.
Fucking rude.

DonnatellaLyman · 24/03/2023 19:25

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 24/03/2023 19:26

Showing an under boob or side boob. Just put them away.
Sitting in your front garden drinking beer from cans.

QueefQueen80s · 24/03/2023 19:27

Lip fillers- women everywhere looking like a blowup doll, tons of young women disfiguring themselves.
