I feel like a bit of a man. For me:

Men pissing by the side of the road. I have see this twice in the past few days, yet there were public loos close by. If a woman did this people would question her sanity, or at the very least think she was undignified yet for men it's considered normal.

Men going shirtless in public. Do what you like in your own garden, but why walk down the high street etc without a shirt. It's never that hot in England - in fact some much hotter climates actually have dignity laws that prohibit both men and women from even showing their arms or legs. Plus you know, sun burn.

Smoking. I hate walking behind someone who is smoking, it blows back in the face of the person behind and gives me a headache. It's unhealthy, expensive and should just be banged in public full stop imo.

Gender reveals. One, it’s sex not gender and two, we don’t need increasingly elaborate ways for you to share your scan results.

Sure. But if you're just putting along in the passing lane, refusing to move over because "IM GOING 5 OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT??!!!" I want you to gtfo of the way and let people use the lane for what it is intended for. Passing.

Agree 💯 !!!

For some reason it is referred to as gender scan often at the hospital/scan centres which is annoying however I guess it didn't matter when there were only 2 genders which matched the sex 🤷‍♀️

eastegg · 27/03/2023 07:33

I suppose ‘sex reveal party’ sounds er, different, but I do wish everyone who has one were forced to call it this, then we’d see how much they’d like to bang on about it all the time.

Haha yes it would sound weird! To be honest it doesn't bother me too much and if it was a close friend/family member I'd go but it feels quite tacky unless it's literally just a small get together to tell your immediate family.

Drag acts - highly offensive and as inappropriate as black face

@JudgeJ

It's completely legal in the UK

metro.co.uk/2018/08/01/can-marry-cousin-uk-family-members-illegal-marry-7785320/

I grew up knowing a married couple who were first cousins

It is legal, but I always understood that it was discouraged?

Its the dog owner equivalent of parents who will never allow their DCs to have screens, a dummy or sweet snacks 😂

It really isn't. If you take dog ownership seriously, ESPECIALLY during the young puppy faze, it is the responsible and kind thing not to leave your young dog for too long. If I get an eight week old puppy, the outside world probably won't see me for the next three months, because I want a happy, house-trained and starting to learn about training young dog. Probably a relief for the outside world.😄 And yes, it is sometimes a great excuse to get home!!😊

I was only half joking really, I just meant people who have never owned dogs just assumed they can get by at home alone for hours and hours (which they can but personally i wouldnt) and people comment that they would never be tied to only leaving a dog for 4 hrs etc, same that people say all those things I mentioned but in reality being a good parent means having a happy contented baby and to do that you need a happy contented parent so some of those things may be necessary IMO.

I have had 2 puppies relatively recently (they are 2.5 yo and just turned 1 yo) so I am still in the middle of the craziness!

Oh, I really agree with you on this! I wish more people realised that you overtake, then especially if there's something behind you obviously wanting to get past, get over! If they want to exceed the speed limit and get pulled, it's up to them!

I know what you mean! I did have a non dog loving friend ask me once if I couldn't just leave the dog out in the garden all day if I wanted to go out - I live on the outskirts of suburbia and even my tolerant dog would draw a line at that. And I'm not a mother ( sort of step mother to my OH's adult children) but would still not suggest anyone left their child alone all day!😄

Before having a puppy (well before researching having a puppy) I had no clue how hard the puppy stage was and what a tie it was so I guess I was a bit miffed when a friend was a bit flakey when she had a very young pup but totally get it now. I definitely wouldn't have suggested to leave a pup outside all day though 😂

Obviously I never intended to leave my dogs more than 3-4 hrs anyway but I was not expecting a dog who wouldn't even let me go into another room without him!

My last dog had acute separation anxiety when I got her at nearly two, wow was that difficult! We had nearly got it corrected when my OH was rushed into hospital and spent a fortnight there - she had to learn to be on her own for more than 20mins. Good job I had tolerant neighbours. But she was like my shadow at home, always wanted to be near me, so I know what you mean about next room syndrome!

It's hard work isn't it. Getting another dog worked for us, I am now working on them being left separately but that is not going well so far.

Obviously I didn't get another dog for that reason 😂

@Daisyismynameorisnot spitting is normal in India, they even provide spittoons there.

Swearing especially the liberal use of f* - I hate it.

Vaping - yes it isn't nicotine but many of the 'safe' ingredients are incredibly carcinogenic and I really don't want to inhale fruit flavoured clouds!

Yes the outside world see me a bit as pup is socialised, I really meant that it's not evenings out with friends, or extended visits to begin with, although most of my friends are animal lovers too, and often welcome me and dog, but my pup is my main focus to begin with. I'm a firm believer that if you get the initial grounding right, it sets the pup up for a good future.
