I got my Christmas meat from a Hampstead butchers once. We were in the queue behind Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton. It was a long queue and the butcher bought us all out little glasses of whisky. They were very nice!

Timeandtune · 23/03/2023 10:54

I stood behind Michelle Mone in the queue for Santa at a Glasgow shopping mall 20 years ago.

Mumsafan · 23/03/2023 10:54

Adam Woodyatt at the bar of a pub when he lived locally to us

QuentininQuarantino · 23/03/2023 10:54

Katie price and Peter Andre at the passport office in London . She was tiny.

Eric Cantona at the bar at a charity fashion show in the 90s. I was studying French and could understand the lechy comments he was making to another French bloke about one of the models.
Jill Scott at the checkout in Lidl with her wife a few days after she came out of the jungle. She seemed really lovely and down to earth.

beguilingeyes · 23/03/2023 11:00

I saw Billie Piper at passport control too. It was just after her first season of Doctor Who has aired and I went up to her to tell her how much I loved it. She was very sweet.
In a burger bar in Camden with Cate Blanchett before a Sparks gig at the Roundhouse a few months ago.

AdaColeman · 23/03/2023 11:01

Bill Nighy, he was buying perfume.
Miriam Margolyes, airport checkin.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 23/03/2023 11:01

Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton) buying milk in my local Spar in Dublin.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 23/03/2023 11:02

Well jel of Steve McFadden poster though!

Wintersunrise · 23/03/2023 11:25

Martine McCutcheon in the loos in a nightclub in London (over 20 years ago!). She was with a group of women who all seemed to be having a lovely time. 😊

I also once stood on (athlete) Colin Jackson’s foot accidentally in a crowd at an athletics meet.

IWannaKnowWhatHappensNext · 23/03/2023 11:25

Not exactly queuing, but my wife once went into the loos in a nightclub ahead of Kylie Minogue. My wife says she was very nice, had a chat, and admired her lipstick and asked to borrow some! 😂

We sat near them at Wicked

As a child, my mum and I queued behind Paul Daniels for a cash machine in Swansea (having just come from seeing his show).

More recently. my DH was behind Peter Capaldi in a queue at an ice-cream parlour in Cardiff, when he was filming Doctor Who.

KnittedCardi · 23/03/2023 11:28

Jude Law at a wedding, was behind him/next to him getting drinks. Phwoar.

In the past (not queued), but served when I worked in the local supermarket as a teen, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Eric Clapton. They all used to go to the local pubs as well, often seen at the bar. DH used to go to a pub frequented by Paul Weller.

In Tesco's and Sainsburys, Cheryl then Liam Payne.
Brian May and Roger Taylor live locally, so often seen driving about.

Surrey Hills - so very rock and roll 😂

CKL987 · 23/03/2023 11:29

Ronnie Wood in Toys R Us.

RoseBucket · 23/03/2023 11:29

The male doctor in Emmerdale in Sainsbury’s in Leeds.

KnittedCardi · 23/03/2023 11:30

Ohhhh, and Damon Hill and Phil Tufnell, they had kids at local schools who took part in local netball tournaments.

Alvin Stardust,
I did say to him "oh hello it's Mr Dust isn't it?

Which I regret a bit now... 😳

😁😁

Slingsanderrors · 23/03/2023 11:38

Peter Kay’s mum at M&S Bolton, John Thaw in a co-op in Stockport.

BizarreBanana · 23/03/2023 11:40

Queued for coffee behind Mackenzie Crook. Obviously didn’t want to be recognised as he had his cap pulled down very low over his face. I only realised it was him when he turned round to leave and I stepped towards the counter.
In our local Post Office behind Stella English (off the Apprentice, sued Alan Sugar). She couldn’t have been more different. Clearly wanted to be recognised, but unfortunately for her, she just pissed off the long queue forming behind her.
Also got on a train behind Michael Heseltine and was sat in the same carriage. Miserable fucker.

GhostOrchid · 23/03/2023 11:40

Charles Dance in Waitrose (he was buying satsumas and Christmas wrapping paper)
Gordon Brown in the Treasury canteen (not that surprising given he was chancellor at the time)
Dexter Fletcher in a branch of Leon buying a fishmonger wrap
Maureen Lipman was a few people behind us in the queue for the theatre a few months ago.

jay55 · 23/03/2023 11:41

Biggins at the airport.
Jonathan Groff came to talk to the lady in front of me in the queue for a charity show, turned out she was his dresser in the play he was in. He stayed and chatted the whole time we were waiting and was just lovely.

FruityLittleDrink · 23/03/2023 11:43

Charlie Dimmock in the queue at Waitrose. And then to get out of the car park in her yellow Skoda.

Netaporter · 23/03/2023 11:44

ohh I have a few.

Best: David Gandy at Airport security. He looked like he was hewn from marble. Sigh.

Worst: Nigel Farage getting on a plane home from NYC. He is not hewn from marble, possibly plasticine.

Random ones: X factor winner Sam Bailey in selfridges shortly after she had won. She’s tiny. Louise Redknapp also selfridges in the exit queue. Letitia Dean in a hotel Check in queue. JLS in a hotel check in queue. Michelle Mone in the same hotel queuing at the bar.
