Ever queued behind anyone famous? I once queued up in Boots behind Wendy Craig,

OP posts:

Kit Harrington in the queue to pay in Waterstones. I didn’t recognise him until then but had been irritated by him taking up the whole notebook section so I had hovered around for a while waiting for him to move out of my way. I’m sure he thought I was some sort of demented stalker.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 23/03/2023 10:33

Claire Balding at Crufts in a queue for the loos! And I had a little chat with her....

Thatsshallot1967 · 23/03/2023 10:33

Richard E Grant, years ago, at Richmond Station queuing for a ticket behind him. He was loooverly.

I was behind Graham Norton at a car park payment machine in Canary Wharf about 16 years ago. I had spare tokens so offered him one, didn't realise that he was Graham Norton until he turned around to say thank you. He said my toddler DS was very cute (he was right about that).

DH and the DC queued to check in behind Billy Piper and her child. Apparently the child wasn't cooperative. When the DC came back they would randomly yell "Winston, Winston, get off the floor" and crack up laughing for a few weeks.

Seal was behind me in a queue for a drink at a George Michael concert!

Spudlover · 23/03/2023 10:36

Alexander Skarsgard at Gatwick airport. I had to work very hard to play it cool.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/03/2023 10:38

Keanu Reaves at the Beachwood Market, when we were staying with our friends who live in the Hollywood hills. He was very nice, and was buying Doritos and eggs.

crackofdoom · 23/03/2023 10:39

Who could be jealous of your Kit Harringtons and Nick Caves when they have had the stellar experience of queuing behind Steve McFadden aka Phil Mitchell buying toilet roll in Trago Mills?!

Me, that's who 🤢

CaveMum · 23/03/2023 10:39

Ex-Strictly pro dancer Lilia Kopylova in the ladies toilets at an event at a London hotel.

thaisweetchill · 23/03/2023 10:40

Brian McFadden in Palma Airport, we were on the same flight

Fleurysur · 23/03/2023 10:40

Tilda Swinton at Arrivals

SeasonFinale · 23/03/2023 10:41

Roger Moore - lived in our village so village store - lovely.
Cilla Black - lived in our village - not nice at all.

Bradley Wiggins let us in the queue in front of him at Starbucks on M6 services

Michael Jackson at The Dorchester hotel. Took a picture with him, promptly deleted it as it was the first time I ever took a photo on a phone (back in the say!)

NeedWineNow · 23/03/2023 10:43

We queued behind the footballer Albert Ferrer in a coffee shop in Knightsbridge. He was playing for Chelsea at the time (we're both Chelsea season ticket holders). DH wanted to shake his hand and tell him what a good player he was but I stopped him as he was with his family and I thought it wasn't right to approach him whilst he was with them (he's never let me forget it!).

Some friends went to see Whitney Houston in concert once and George Michael sat behind them. George was singing along, as you do. We were all 'oohh how exciting!'. Our friend was very unimpressed as she couldn't stand him!

crackofdoom · 23/03/2023 10:43

Also, when I was a kid we stood behind Pamela Anderson and her toddler daughter in a queue for ice cream in Windsor. Daughter copiously pissed herself, and PA looked despairing. My mum was very snarky about it, but that's my mum. Had it been the adult me I would have offered her some comforting words and a plastic bag.

ShagratandGorbag4ever · 23/03/2023 10:45

I was next to Richard Dawkins in the queue for coffee at an event where he was speaking. We exchanged brief commiserations on the horridness of the coffee.

I wasn't sure and I didn't want to correct you I think PA only has sons!

Threeladsandaweelassie · 23/03/2023 10:48

Yes!
At Glastonbury a very beautiful and dainty nikki graeme, shouting at the woman making her toast for buttering the bread.
She said, "I specifically asked you for no butter!" And she was whiny and dramatic which on someone else would have seemed proper horrid.
She just seemed distressed as opposed to being rude. Heartbreaking with hindsight.
Also at same Glastonbury at the early hours of the morning I was going the toilet and met dick of dick and dom fame, a group of absolutely hammered teenagers convinced him to go back their tent to wake up their sleeping friend by shouting bogies at them.
He was really fun. And actually very handsome!

cornflakegeneration · 23/03/2023 10:49

Cheryl Baker
Ola from Strictly

QuitRunningForThatRunawayBus · 23/03/2023 10:50

Another - Alex Ferguson sat directly behind me at a funeral (but not sure that strictly counts).

Breezycheesetrees · 23/03/2023 10:51

Alan Shearer at the bar. My mate went for a piss next to Gazza once.

clary · 23/03/2023 10:51

Actress Patricia Hodge (very beautiful) buying metres of spotted muslin in John Lewis.

They had to ask her for extra ID as she was paying by cheque and it was more than £50 (this was in the Dark Ages obvs) and we were all standing in the queue whispering "that's Patricia Hodge!"
