Just a general chat about what gifts people received for Mother's Day?

I got some nice flowers and a bottle of Golden Dusk perfume by Sunnamusk.

@TorringtonDean it's really obvious what the thread is about. If you want compassion, go to one of the other hundreds of threads rather than posting a snippy comment here with no context.

Oh yes, sorry to interrupt the boast fest. I got a new Prada handbag, seven bouquets of flowers, afternoon tea at the Ritz and a trip to the Moon, plus handmade cards of course.

GoodChat · 20/03/2023 12:10

@TorringtonDean lots of posters here have shared the little things that meant a lot. It's not a boasting thread, but it's a lovely one.

@TorringtonDean don't take it out on me because you didn't get anything for Mother's Day ...

Here, have a bunch of sour grapes for you trouble! 🍇

But the op didn't want to know what nice things people had done for them they wanted to tell us what expensive gift they had and ask what everyone else got 🤷‍♂️

Shame that's all you seem to value 🤷‍♂️

Haven't seen OP mention any nice gestures she had done for her or comment on anyone else just childishly accused everyone of being jealous/bitter

Honestly, why are people posting on a thread about Mother's day gifts just to moan they didn't get anything and tell others they shouldn't post about it?

I've already said what I got, I'm pleased to get anything even just a card. There have been years the only thing I got is a card they made at school and I was still happy because they would be so excited for me to read what they'd written in it.

One of my DS didn't get me anything despite having just started working. I got a text saying Happy Mother's Day and a promise to get me something next week (which won't happen as he didn't get me anything for my birthday or Christmas either) but at least he remembered to text.

One DD drew me a card because she has disabilities and can't go to the shop herself or order anything. Not everything has to be about flashy gifts so I don't know why some people are complaining because some others have been given these things!

Ask yourself is you've made out you're not bothered when secretly you want them to surprise you. Tell your DC is upsets you that they don't make any effort and why. If you're a single parent see if there's a friend or family member that could help them pick something or let them pick something with you but don't look while they go the till to pay (dependent on age obviously).

And lastly, don't read threads if the title is telling you that you won't like it! Not very nice trying to make other people feel bad because you didn't get anything.

It makes me happy to hear that others had a great day and are appreciated and felt/feel so.
It is not about the things themselves, but the appreciation and feeling valued by your family.
We always aleays celebrate each other in my home, rain or snow, money or no money. We do the best we can for that person.

fruitandfibreg · 20/03/2023 18:50

We're on holiday and my husband organised a long massage and I spent some time at the pool on my own 😎

I got breakfast in bed, flowers and fizz, and a Sunday roast cooked for me by the elder kids. Husband told me off every time I attempted to do any kind of chore, and took over.

I've had a lovely day, and I appreciate my family showing me how they appreciate me. Genuine sympathies to those who feel under valued and shit Flowers

I started changing the baby's nappy while singing "breakin the law breakin the law!" And when my husband saw what I was doing, he chased me round saying "ooooh you skallywag" 😂

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/03/2023 22:35

Nothing. I knew there'd be nothing but I still feel sad.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/03/2023 22:49

I still like to hear about what others get even though I get nothing myself. It's good to see that a lot of people appreciate their mums.

I got the biggest surprise ever! My beautiful dd2 and her wonderful partner told me I am going to be a Grandma! It still hasn't sunk in and I am completely overwhelmed with happiness for them and us. It's still very early so only a couple of people know. Can't wait until I can tell the world!
