Just a general chat about what gifts people received for Mother's Day?

I got some nice flowers and a bottle of Golden Dusk perfume by Sunnamusk.

Homemade cards with compliments lists, 2 bouquets, some books, PJ's and my favourite chocolates.

Lillipops · 19/03/2023 20:17

I'm a step mum but my DP got me a beautiful bouquet of roses delivered and got us an Italian takeaway, I feel really loved and appreciated. I live 3 hrs from my mum but we are going away next week for a girlie night away I'm literally sooo excited!!!

TyotyaKlava · 19/03/2023 20:19

My husband asked a month or so ago what I wanted and I said I wanted an orchid plant.
what I got today: electric blanket 🤦🏻‍♀️ I doubt I ever going to use it. Tempted to return it and get some nice orchids from m&s 🙊

Fuck all. Children are 18, 11 and 8, all old enough to sort things out but other than the cards that the younger ones did as part of school lessons, I got nowt. I have bought myself some new pyjamas online and am currently stewing on the sofa with some chocolate I already had in the house.

familyissues12345 · 19/03/2023 20:20

Flowers, chocolates and bowling/meal out in DS's Uni city.

TBH would have just been happy with the outing, it's so unusual for the 4 of us to be all together it feels like a real treat.

I also bought myself a cake!

A framed photo of my DC.

A beautiful thumb ring, a potted rose bush for the garden, a box of chocolates and a lovely card from ‘DS’ (signed too… he’s sixteen months, and it is a chaotic signature 😂) and a bunch of flowers from my ma. It was a lovely day!

merlotlover · 19/03/2023 20:21

Lovely cards plus one off the dog
New slippers, red wine some smellies and a candle
Perfect
Had a gang of us for afternoon tea and wine and I'm tired now, happy tired 🤗❤️

A card and a furry axolotl toy from build a bear. I’ve wanted a real axolotl for ages but DD knows I’m scared that I won’t be able to look after it properly.

Hand print card, ‘handmade’ chocolate bar (think melted poured into a mould and then sprinkles added), bunch of daffs and a decorated jam jar ‘vase’ - all facilitated by the childminder.

Lovely breakfast in bed and a box of chocolates facilitated by DH.

Lots of cuddles from my fantastic, crazy toddler - as well as instructions that I had to ‘share’ the breakfast and the chocolates.

We visited my in laws too, and MIL whisked DD off to get her to make this lovely bunch of paper flowers - she’d planned to do it with her this week but wasn’t well so they did it today. MIL is very good at all kinds of card making and paper craft, they’re really lovely and DD was very proud.

DH also cooked a nice dinner.

I'm a foster carer so lots of dc and they're all adults/older teens and I get really spoiled.
DD1 got me a camellia shrub and booked a cream tea for her, me and my mum for next week.
Dgd gave me an apple tree and a hedgehog planter
DS1 gave me a beautiful necklace
DD2 had a print of "our special family" made of pebble people.
DS2 gave me flowers
DD3 gave me flowers to plant in my garden
DD 4 had some family photos framed and some lovely facial bits and bobs.
DD5 has only been with us a few weeks so I was so happy when she produced a card for "a lovely foster mum" that meant so much.

DH gave me flowers and a beautiful silver family tree necklace with all the children's initials on it.

I would honestly be happy with just cards but being spoiled is so nice.
I hope all the mums out there had a lovely day.

No one’s forcing you to read.

They don’t have to read them . There are so many threads about miserable Mother’s Day efforts why can’t there be just one nice one .

An empty bag, without the bag.

2 ungrateful teenagers at home, single parent.

LennyThePenny · 19/03/2023 20:32

Nothing.

MrsPnut · 19/03/2023 20:32

I got a bottle of my favourite Spanish strawberry gin, a few bunches of flowers and cards from both girls. I’ve been out for lunch and managed a few glasses of wine too.

BabychamGlass · 19/03/2023 20:34

I got breakfast in bed, flowers and fizz, and a Sunday roast cooked for me by the elder kids. Husband told me off every time I attempted to do any kind of chore, and took over.

I've had a lovely day, and I appreciate my family showing me how they appreciate me. Genuine sympathies to those who feel under valued and shit Flowers

bubbles2023 · 19/03/2023 20:35

Card , chocolates and a candle set.

ElfDragon · 19/03/2023 20:36

exH excelled himself this year - managed to get (for ds to give me) the same thing that he got last year. Exact same thing. Dd1 (18, with learning difficulties) got me some chocolate (always her preferred gift, as then she gets to share it - no flies on her 😀)

dd2 has given up on relying on her dad for support, and chose some books for me, which I am very much looking forward to reading.

illiterato · 19/03/2023 20:38

Flowers, chocolate and booze. My lovely MIL helped the dc sort it out as DH working overseas atm. It was a v badly kept secret but I think my acting was good enough. Other than that a normal Sunday as both ex had rugby fixtures. At least it wasn’t raining.

Mavericksaviators · 19/03/2023 20:42

Absolutely nothing from my 13 year old, not even a card

Mavericksaviators · 19/03/2023 20:43

Happy for everyone else though :)
