Just a general chat about what gifts people received for Mother's Day?

I got some nice flowers and a bottle of Golden Dusk perfume by Sunnamusk.

A book, a plant and a very impractical pen for work but picked by my youngest so I love it. Homemade cards, a lie on and dinner made for me and mil. Kids are getting that bit older that they helped dh with dinner and tidying so I'm not left with a mess in the morning. A great day all round

Errmmmmmmmmmmm · 19/03/2023 23:12

A bunch of flowers, a plant, a box of herbal teas and lunch made for me, oh and a lie in which never happens any other time on the year other than my birthday!

Silkierabbit · 19/03/2023 23:36

DH made us pancakes for breakfast with white chocolate and kiwi and made a roast lamb for dinner.

DS was home for the morning and yesterday from hospital where he's been unable to write / move etc since September and he wrote his first word to sign my mother's day card.

A house, a car and a hostess trolley

SunsetOverEasterIsland · 19/03/2023 23:38

A card with a lovely drinks coaster, whisky, chocolates and a link for my Nomination bracelet with a heart interlinked with the infinity sign. DS also made tea tonight which was lovely.

benfolds5 · 19/03/2023 23:46

A herbal tea in bed, a book I've been wanting to read for ages, a candle and some fudge. Plus a DIY spa afternoon at home, courtesy of DD(10), with a nice face mask, manicure and pedicure etc. Feel very lucky.

My boys 11 and 4 made me breakfast in bed. Lots of cuddles and snuggles in bed. Little one made a lovely card at school. The big one who hates writing write a lovely message. Went for a lovely and peaceful walk on mu own, had coffee in silence. Then home to flowers and a perfume from dh. So so thoughtful and I always say please save your money. We have had a tough few years financially so he wanted to make an effort. He said some lovely things, how he appreciates that I never make a fuss when money is tight and plans change. How proud he is of how hard I work etc. We went to southbank for a stroll and some lunch. Was just really relaxed and heart warming.

❤️ that made me well up

GrandTheftWalrus · 20/03/2023 00:08

A lovely wee handmade candle jar and 2 homemade cards from my older dd who is 6. It's the first time she's written all the card and not just her name.

Chocolates and a card from my younger dd who is nearly 2. She handed me them herself which was lovely.

My favourite meal cooked by DH and just a generally lazy day.

CatchHimDerry · 20/03/2023 00:13

Candles x 2 as I love a candle, Flowers, biscuits to go with my tea and a voucher for a massage / reflexology etc as been having a real rough time of things lately

Bless DH sorting it all off the baby

Really unwell, AGAIN, but still a nice day

so lovely reading everyone’s posts

I do appreciate this is a really hard day for some for many reasons, so for anyone feeling down about it, I’m sending thoughts and love to you all ❤️

Nothing from my three adult sons and it's my birthday tomorrow too, one of them has managed to post a card so that will be the sum total. I've acted all nonchalant but I am a bit sad actually. They all ( DH too) tend towards the literal and I've probably been a bit too " oh don't worry I'm not bothered" in the past when they've got stressed about choosing something and none of them like a fuss themselves, or they say they don't but they still expect me to make them one.
I don't want a present if I have to nag or guilt trip them...

LuluBlakey1 · 20/03/2023 00:14

Homemade cards, a bunch of lovely Spring flowers, 3 large bars of chocolate (each DC picked one) and DH made a delicious lunch and cleared up afterwards.

Nothing. Stop competing.

ModeWeasel · 20/03/2023 00:28

A note the teacher got them to write which was supposed to be about why they appreciate their mum with ‘nothing’ written on it because they thought it would be funny. It was laminated, to preserve the joyful memory forever.

FernsAndFlowers · 20/03/2023 00:28

A birthday card. Bought in haste and didn’t check the wording

Aren’t you the compassionate one?

@TorringtonDean it's really obvious what the thread is about. If you want compassion, go to one of the other hundreds of threads rather than posting a snippy comment here with no context.
