Uncultured opinions thread

MeinKraft · 14/03/2023 15:00

A thread for those of us who have less refined tastes.

No arguing please, like the unpopular opinions thread please respect the uncultured opinions.

I'll start;

Oscar nominated films are often boring and rubbish. I'd rather watch old episodes of Gavin and Stacey or Ghosts. (I'll make an exception for Titanic, the greatest film of all time)

I think truffle tastes like expensive mud.

My favourite chocolate is Galaxy.

RampantIvy · 14/03/2023 15:43

Truffles are vile

Ihatethinkingofusernamez · 14/03/2023 15:43

Coffee is just dirty water.

PlusLaMeme · 14/03/2023 15:44

I think the contemporary exhibitions held by museums are shite and are more invested in getting publicity in the media than actually presenting anything worthwhile (honourable exception was the Tutankhamen exhibition in Saatchi gallery that Covid put an ignoble end to)

Ringmaster27 · 14/03/2023 15:46

@Switchwitch 100% agree.
A friend of mine brought me some posh chocolates back from a trip to Belgium. She got them in a tiny little artisan chocolatier’s that’s been run by the same family for 100+ years.
They were awful 😬😬
I’d rather have some Cadbury buttons 😂

Stitchesremoved22 · 14/03/2023 15:46

I love hen dos, bottomless brunches, baby showers.
I'd have more fun in Benidorm than Barcelona.
I love gossiping over discussing intellectual topics.
Much prefer fast food over gourmet restaurants.

Pootles34 · 14/03/2023 15:48

DH took me to a fancy restaurant, didn't fancy pudding, so I had a bar of dairy milk from a petrol station and a cuppa in bed. It was the best bit by a long shot.

gogohmm · 14/03/2023 15:57

I'm off to an all inclusive in Ibiza next month. I'm not even young! See you on the dance floor Grin

Justme10 · 14/03/2023 15:58

I like reading ya romance books, occasionally set in American high school were the 18 year olds act about 10 years older, I love the drama!
I am in my late 20s though so I hope that makes it a little more acceptable BlushGrin

pointythings · 14/03/2023 15:58

When I go on holiday somewhere warm, I don't want culture or history. I want to lie in the sun, swim in the sea, eat what I want and read trashy novels.

Mabelface · 14/03/2023 15:59

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/03/2023 15:15

I don't like olives. The Devil's grapes.

The devil's testicles, you mean. 😉

Chikapu · 14/03/2023 16:02

A slice of hard-boiled egg on a Ritz cracker is the ultimate party food, bonus points if there's Branston pickle to blob on top.
Guinness tastes like muddy water.

Hotvimto3 · 14/03/2023 16:03

Id rather cadburys or malteasers than posh choc.
I like that chopped ham thing with egg inside.
I dont like champagne

Same here. Couldn't care less about the migration patterns of some obscure turtle population, just want to know if they have a nice crab salad for lunch.

My all-time favourite TV series, I watch it all the way through probably once a year, is Dawson's Creek.

I am in my 50s.

I am Hart Of Dixie all the way. I am 60.😳

MissKittyFantastico84 · 14/03/2023 16:15

I love Pizza Express.

I hate the way actors act and speak-shout in theatre plays.

I detest spoken word poetry. It makes my angry.

I love watching Columbo, Marple, Poirot and Midsomer Murders even though I've seen them all before.

Vanderpump Rules is one of the best TV shows ever made.

I would go on a solo woman trip to all the Orlando theme parks in a second if it wouldn't cause concern amongst my friends and peers. Grin

Oh I think you should book it right now! Why not.

Lessoftheold · 14/03/2023 16:18

I quite like wine, but I won't pay more than a fiver or so for a bottle. It all tastes the same after one glass anyway.

I hate posh chocolates, too bitter and samey. Twirls all the way for me. And Aldi teabags in the red box are the best Brew

I sometimes laugh out loud at Mrs Brown's Boys Blush

LondonJax · 14/03/2023 16:20

I do like a glass of wine...but only rose. If I'm having wine don't bother asking me which one or matching it with the meal, just pour me a glass of rose.

My favourite chocolate is galaxy or Malteser truffles if it's Christmas. Can't cope with 'arty' truffles. Bleugh!

I like Midsomer, Columbo and any Agatha Christie too @MissKittyFantastico84

I re-read books I enjoy (Agatha Christie ones are falling apart). They're my comfort blanket - no horrible surprises.

So my ideal day off would be a Midsomer etc, bar of galaxy and a glass of rose. Followed by a curry...

Oh and Pizza Express is too posh for me - I'm a Pizza Hut girl (bacon bits anyone??)

Hotvimto3 · 14/03/2023 16:22

Nothing wrong with that at all
Sounds lovely. This thread is just celebrating joy, no one trying hard to be something. Its fab.

just go already! That stuff can't be properly appreciated by kids anyway.

Fancy food annoys me, as do foodies. Food should be simple, like Kraft Mac and cheese.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 14/03/2023 16:28

I don't mind the odd Fray Bentos pie.

I keep the tv on when we have guests for a bit of background noise, and I'd prefer it if the people I visit did too (nudge nudge MIL!)

Wishimaywishimight · 14/03/2023 16:28

I feel slightly irritated when actors talk about their "craft". They're pretending / play-acting, okay so it's a grown up, money making version but I still can't take that sort of guff talk too seriously.

BridaBrida · 14/03/2023 16:28

Most poetry is pretentious at best and vomit inducing at worst, especially when read aloud shudder
