Very strange and worrying situation. Please keep an eye out if you're local. www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/23364255.three-newport-women-missing-night-city/?ref=twtrec

It’s tragic; I hope I am wrong, but I can only imagine a road accident where the car has left the road would account for radio silence from all five.

HoppingMarchHares · 05/03/2023 21:33

Why are they only really mentioning the women? The men appear to be an after thought!

TennisWithDeborah · 05/03/2023 21:36

The police view their disappearance as “low risk”. A strange case.

I can only imagine that initially they suspected the girls had gone unwillingly, or that the men had taken them.

the longer it goes on with none of them making contact the more concerned everyone is for all five

Exactly my thought when I read this awful news.

Moonicorn · 05/03/2023 21:40

How odd. Hoping they reappear with a bizarre explanation.

I was wondering that, as all five seem to be missing, and that was known from the start for at least one lad.

there is also clearly no phone activity to trace them, nothing, no on line transactions, phones, social media, no sightings.

Whathaveibecome1 · 05/03/2023 21:41

So scary and only 10 minutes down the road from me!

I don’t think that’s correct. From what I’m reading it’s now high risk.

Fastingstarted · 05/03/2023 21:42

It sounds as though one of the men hasn’t been officially named. The girls went out together so I suppose the alarm is being raised about them firstly.

I hope not but agree with PP, a car accident which hasn’t yet been found seems likely.

Hope they’re all found well and soon.

Garners more sympathy. It's like when they say 300 people dead, 2 of them children.

Daffodilsandbeer · 05/03/2023 21:44

I was wondering if they went out on the water, maybe stole a boat and had a problem.

BatFaceOwl · 05/03/2023 21:46

So strange

FatCatt · 05/03/2023 21:48

Was just reading about this. Hopefully they turn up safe and well soon

davegrohll · 05/03/2023 21:48

But it said that one of the girls cars was left at the venue ? So unless there was another vehicle. I'm sure cctv would have picked this up though wouldn't it ?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/03/2023 21:48

Has no one learned any lessons from Nicola Bulley's tragic case?

EasterIssland · 05/03/2023 21:49

Hope they are all found safe

Fastingstarted · 05/03/2023 21:50

It’s reported in the Daily Mail (sorry - they are sharing the most details at the moment) that their car has been tracked (I’d presume AMPR) going from Newport, to Porthcawl and then to Cardiff where they dropped off a male. After that, the car hasn’t been seen.

I mention that as it makes the last location Cardiff rather than Porthcawl.

Its hard to imagine a car disappearing from AMPR in the city, there’s obviously decent CCTV coverage so perhaps they will be able to find it again and get a clearer picture of where they went. Presuming the above is all correct as reported.

In what way? I don't see any similarities other than the missing element

So 6 people were in the car at one point? You'd think the person dropped off would know where they were headed

I think this is a little different. These kids could plausibly have gone on a bender or be somewhere else, safe. It’s also a much wider area to get lost in (a chunk of south wales) so sightings etc will be a lot of help.

They’ve been missing since Friday, but it’s only being reported now. Hopefully someone will have seen them or better still, they’ll see this news coverage, have the fright of their lives and make contact.

Either 6 people, or the 5th is the as yet unnamed other man. Which would explain why he’s not named, as he’s potentially not missing.

I was hoping that someone had already said this.

I just cannot believe people on this thread are speculating like they are. People have lost all sense of what is appropriate!

Show concern, yes. Post morbid theories, ffs get a grip 😠🙄.
