It’s reported in the Daily Mail (sorry - they are sharing the most details at the moment) that their car has been tracked (I’d presume AMPR) going from Newport, to Porthcawl and then to Cardiff where they dropped off a male. After that, the car hasn’t been seen.

I mention that as it makes the last location Cardiff rather than Porthcawl.

Its hard to imagine a car disappearing from AMPR in the city, there’s obviously decent CCTV coverage so perhaps they will be able to find it again and get a clearer picture of where they went. Presuming the above is all correct as reported.

Yes you’re right sorry I thought they were last seen at rhe bay, but they left at 2am and haven’t been seen since, the car seems to have vanished,

Armchair detectives out again.

All 5 of them would have mobiles Confused

That would be EASILY traced if the car was off the road...

I'm guessing because it's the weekend they have to get the mobile providers to do their bit - which takes longer than a few hours

So they will likely find them tomorrow if they have Sad

Was just thinking surely at least one phone could be traced.. even on someone’s find my iPhone. Very strange, really hope they all turn up tomorrow

I think this is a little different. These kids could plausibly have gone on a bender or be somewhere else, safe. It’s also a much wider area to get lost in (a chunk of south wales) so sightings etc will be a lot of help.

They’ve been missing since Friday, but it’s only being reported now. Hopefully someone will have seen them or better still, they’ll see this news coverage, have the fright of their lives and make contact.

The speculation is absolutely no different. In Nicola's case it ended up with the police having to release highly intrusive personal information.

People trying to cluedo it on MN will not solve what has happened, nor find them.

Abreezeitheglade · 05/03/2023 22:07

Are there search teams out yet?

liveforsummer · 05/03/2023 22:08

Either 6 people, or the 5th is the as yet unnamed other man. Which would explain why he’s not named, as he’s potentially not missing.

There are two men named in that article linked? Perhaps one was dropped off but they are yet to trace him so is counted among the 5? 6 generally don't fit in cars (legally)

The police likely waited 24 hours to ensure truly missing and then today started rhe missing persons, they will have the phone data by now , it generally takes about 30 mins.

The Police don't wait 24 hours for a missing person report - other than on TV

countdowntonap · 05/03/2023 22:21

Are there stretches of road without barriers where a car could’ve come off?

justasking111 · 05/03/2023 22:27

Kids this age do go off the grid. I'm hoping it's this

Ugzbugz · 05/03/2023 22:29

First person dropped off possibly passed out and hungover and unaware. The car may have crashed into woodlands etc. Very sad.

Daisybee6 · 05/03/2023 22:33

There's 3 police forces out looking for them

Best not to speculate, because unless you were in the car with them you don't know where they are now

I cannot imagine what the poor families of the women and men are going through

UserOfManyPseudonyms · 05/03/2023 22:37

Terrifying for the families. One of the women’s handbags was found in a caravan owned by one of the men which is odd.

It doesn’t seem to be reported if the women knew the men before Friday night.

Would there be areas with no mobile reception around there? I read that there were lots of country back lanes.

I read the car they were travelling in was leased. Would it be fitted with s tracker as standard?

I understand the police search helicopters have only just gone out tonight. Hope to god there is a non harm to anyone outcome and at the very least, they weren’t in a car incident and stuck there since early Sat morning with injuries.

No, missing person is assessed on risk, there is no automatic wait 24hr rule. Only on the tv

Midlander01 · 05/03/2023 22:44

Why is this not on BBC news? Their poor familys must be out of there minds with worry.

CrosswordConundrum · 05/03/2023 22:47

Hope everyone is found safe soon. I sort of feel better knowing they are together, don’t know why.

South Wales is extremely rural in parts. There might not be cell reception for miles depending where they headed. Not as easily traced as you’d initially think.

People that age don’t all stop phone activity for any period of time.

Canuck48 · 05/03/2023 22:59

What makes it more awful is that the mother of one of the girls has commented she lost a daughter due to drink driving/car crash a few years ago- would be horrendous for any mother to go through that pain again.

I disagree about the Nicola Bulley comparison and the general blanket ban on discussing investigations that people want to have since then. I’ve been following this case as soon as her sister popped it on Facebook- and I’ve seen first hand on the thread how by creating discussion about it more people found out and more insight/info came out that was helping the family piece together what’s happened.

Also if god forbid the car hit water, I presume their phones would be damaged and hence why they can’t trace any of the 5 phones?

WinterMusings · 05/03/2023 23:13

Did the three females know the 2/3 makes before Friday?

it's hard to think how there could be a good outcome, but hoping for a miracle x
