Very strange and worrying situation. Please keep an eye out if you're local. www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/23364255.three-newport-women-missing-night-city/?ref=twtrec

Sorry cross posted.

Every parents worst nightmare. Your teenager getting into a car and being wiped out like that.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 06/03/2023 06:07

That is terribly sad. Those poor people and their poor families. I appreciate it’s devastating for all but I can’t stop thinking about the woman who has already lost a daughter. Awful news 😢

DDoOneRon · 06/03/2023 06:09

So scary and only 10 minutes down the road from me!

Could I respectfully ask why you found it scary?

fajitaaaa · 06/03/2023 06:10

Very sad. I hope for the best for the two with injuries. They must have been there for a while.

CornishTiger · 06/03/2023 06:13

Extremely sad.

They've come off the road and been trapped in the car, injured, dying, or dead, for two days. I'd call that scary.

BigcatLittlecat · 06/03/2023 06:28

How awful for then and all their families. It is scary that they were there for so long. I drove down that road yesterday and there was nothing out of the ordinary. So sad.

CornishTiger · 06/03/2023 06:28

On local Facebook it’s been confirmed who has died.

One female and one male has survived at moment.

I really hope the family gets some answers soon.

well, petrifying for them, but I wouldn’t have thought it’d be scary for you and me, no matter how many minutes away we live.

Fancy having to be “right” when those young people have lost their lives

get a grip

PurplePositivity · 06/03/2023 06:35

So so sad but I am glad they have been found.

I remember a case a while ago where a guy had gone missing and he'd had a car accident but wasn't found for quite a few days. Sadly he died but at least the family had answers.

It’s reported in the Daily Mail (sorry - they are sharing the most details at the moment) that their car has been tracked (I’d presume AMPR) going from Newport, to Porthcawl and then to Cardiff where they dropped off a male. After that, the car hasn’t been seen.

I mention that as it makes the last location Cardiff rather than Porthcawl.

Its hard to imagine a car disappearing from AMPR in the city, there’s obviously decent CCTV coverage so perhaps they will be able to find it again and get a clearer picture of where they went. Presuming the above is all correct as reported.

Yes and it's not like they can say Cardiff Council don't have adequate cctv on all main roads! you only have to drive on the dotted line of a bus lane for them to give you a ticket.

I can only imagine its an accident and they haven't been found. Hope they are found soon

CornishTiger · 06/03/2023 06:40

I know the case you are talking about @PurplePositivity He was missing for 7 days. Had driven into a roundabout and the trees hide the car for 7 days.

The footage showed a police officer noticing something and going to look.

Im glad they’ve been found now so two might survive but lots of people unknowingly passed that car today. And that’s an awful thing to know they were trapped.

It sounds like PP meant that they were close by and she didn't know it by mentioning the proximity, she knows where it is on a visceral level.

TerfIngOnTheBeach · 06/03/2023 06:40

How utterly tragic. So sad, and it isn’t hard to imagine the terror that went through their minds at the time and for two them for almost 24 hours afterwards.

Truly awful. Their poor families.

35965a · 06/03/2023 06:45

From the DM it says they’ve found 3 bodies and 2 are in hospital seriously injured. It looks like the police have been appalling, yet again, Sophie’s mum was told to stop calling the police, so she went out looking herself and knocking on doors. It seems like the community were out looking for the car.

Simonjt · 06/03/2023 06:55

Awful isn’t it, this happened to a friend while I was at university, they were late home after a ski trip so we weren’t worried at first as the weather had been poor and some ferries were cancelled and they had been due to be home around 11pm. No sign the next morning, again, not unusual as we weren’t big on mobile phones then and overnight ferries cancelled. They were found three days later, the only ‘good’ thing was the crash was so awful its unlikely any of them would have survived for more than a few minutes.

Just down the road from me too and I agree, scary when it's so close to home 😔.

I'd find it a bit scary that people can be so close to me and need help but I'd have no idea

We have no idea what the police actually said or how often she was calling and what they were doing behind the scenes

mdh2020 · 06/03/2023 07:02

The BBC reported at 6.00am this morning that the car has been found. Three occupants are dead and two have been taken to hospital. The car was involved in an accident.

They’ve reported themselves. Which would suggest to me that they’ve not treated this with an appropriate urgency.
