Very strange and worrying situation. Please keep an eye out if you're local. www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/23364255.three-newport-women-missing-night-city/?ref=twtrec

I hadn't seen any of the stuff about who drove, or balloons.

If you have a look at the families Facebook pages there’s lots of info on there. The police haven’t shared anything however.

Additionally I think the families are just looking for someone to blame. E.g one of the boys sisters whose been speaking to the press blaming the police for not responding sooner was also the same sister lashing out against eves sister/mum for putting missing posts in the first place saying it’s normal for her brother to go on a bender and not be heard from and they aren’t missing just drink and to take the post down.

Also between the girls families and the drivers families both trying to blame each other, the dad saying the driver was at fault for drink driving and the boys family saying the girls didnt have to get in the car with a drunk driver and it was there decision to make.

The CCTV footage is easily found on most media and Facebook.

I don't understand the criticism of police. missing person reports Saturday afternoon....car found Sunday night. isn't that relatively quick to find missing persons?

I’m baffled by it swell, I always thought it was common practice to wait 24 hours for a missing person before they search as the majority come back before then. They also were not classed as vulnerable so not high risk. By the time they managed to trace down the car which could have been literally anywhere from one point of south wales to another they were able to find it hidden.

yeah, I think given that all 5 of them were uncontactable from 2am Saturday would/should have initiated immediate search huh (and maybe did?)...but it's still not an excessive amount of time to find them, is it given they were reported missing Saturday afternoon/evening....I think the boys were reported on Sunday?

24 hours thing is a myth - they risk assess as soon as the report comes in. Hence why the Nicola Bulley case was acted on promptly (alcohol, mental health, and other issues we're not privy to) or the Constance Marten case (newborn baby, concealed pregnancy, previous SS involvement) ... whereas these 5 looked very much like they could just have decided to kip at a friend's house and didn't have a phone charger with them.

But the police were not contacted at 2am on Saturday morning. The first time any of them were reported missing was after 7pm on Saturday evening. So it wasn't like the police didn't do anything for 48 hours

Yes I agree and even the families of the boys believed them to have just been hungover somewhere and so didn’t report them missing much later. By the time the police started looking and them finding them was less than 24 hours I believe which I think is pretty good going when you think how much distance they had to cover. Would have been like finding a needle in a haystack!

Hopefully the autopsy shows they would have died on impact so it brings comfort to the parents that them being found sooner wouldn’t have helped.

Such a busy road and for nobody to hear/see anything shows how hidden it is. The families themselves passed the site multiple times so not sure why police are being blamed.

For the keyboard warriors (on Facebook mainly) that say a helicopter should have gone up as soon as they were reported missing is insanity, the police don’t have unlimited funds.
