Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

We are, worth the extra money in our opinion!

Leftbutcameback · 01/03/2023 21:29

Brandon has been my preference for a while (and I recently switched to their ketchup too). Tescos do a mixed baked beans which is lovely too.

Its Branston for me

For me too. Much nicer, I think.

Another vote for M&S and Waitrose. They are lovely

Looks like the price is going up again this year. I’m going to give M & S a try.

Theunamedcat · 01/03/2023 21:54

I stopped years ago when they did something to them and made them taste sweet I have the world's biggest sweet tooth but not with beans NEVER with beans

dutysuite · 01/03/2023 22:02

I’m not buying as many tins that’s for sure, I tried to down brand and bought some Sainsburys organic and the beans were rock hard, I’ve bought a small tin if M&S to see what they’re like.

Beepbeepenergy · 01/03/2023 22:06

YES will not use any other… some things I just will not scrimp on

Tallulasdancingshoes · 01/03/2023 22:18

We are, and hoops and ketchup. Other brands just taste wrong. I buy plenty from f own brand stuff but beans, hoops and ketchup need to be Heinz.

BotterMon · 01/03/2023 22:20

Yes but a four pack lasts me a year. Buy their ketchup too but don't use much. Never tried any other brands. Probably couldn't tell the difference tbh.

Whu · 01/03/2023 22:20

No and I’m enjoying the own brands more - less sweet!

SecretSong · 01/03/2023 22:25

Yes, we are. We’ve tried Morrison’s, Tesco, M&S and others but no one here likes them.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 01/03/2023 22:38

Only Branston in this house

timetorefresh · 01/03/2023 22:46

Never have. Tesco ones here

MoreSleepPleasee · 01/03/2023 22:55

Not beans but we always have a stockpile of heinz spaghetti in this autism household. One of the only foods my child will eat.

youkiddingme · 01/03/2023 22:57

Nope, as others have said stopped buying them years ago. Nasty watery sauce.

Heinz does taste strange now. We only eat Branston beans, but had Heinz at the Premier Inn breakfast a while ago. I thought they tasted vile and the sauce was so watery and unpleasant.

LibertyLily · 01/03/2023 23:38

We're still buying Heinz baked beans - have tried a few other brands and thought they tasted awful, although I agree the sauce in Heinz beans has become increasingly watery. Have yet to try M&S beans though and have heard lots of good things about these so will probably give them a try soon.

As we only eat them a couple of times a month the price doesn't seem too bad.

Don't think I'd fancy own brand beans and sausages though, which are an occasional comfort food treat for me with loads of mash!

We have stopped buying Heinz tomato ketchup though and now get Co-op's which is considerably cheaper and tastes identical imho.

Carlycat · 02/03/2023 00:29

I am. The reduced sugar and salt ones. Can't find a decent replacement that doesn't taste of sweeteners 🤢

Furries · 02/03/2023 01:16

I’ve swapped a lot of branded products. Beans I struggled with, but M&S ones are pretty good and 50p, so am persevering.

The only thing I haven’t been able to swap is ketchup. Nothing has come close to Heinz, so that’s staying on my list for now!

xprincessxjanetx · 02/03/2023 01:21

No. For a long time I switched to Branston but even they are ridiculously overpriced now. I am happy enough with Sainsburys/Tesco/Asda own brand (the ones that come in packs of 4 for around £1.20).

Blueuggboots · 02/03/2023 02:21

Yes. I get them from Costco where they work out to 54p/can.

charabang · 02/03/2023 06:18

I have never liked Heinz beans as they are far too sticky and sweet for my liking. Far happier with an own brand baked bean.

Downunderduchess · 02/03/2023 06:46

I have them pretty much every day so yes I am still buying them. I’m in Australia though. I haven’t noticed if there’s been a price increase, but considering everything else is going up there may well have been. I must pay attention when I do my next online order. It’s the only brand I’ve ever bought.

PoseyFlump · 02/03/2023 07:12

I'm on the lookout for an alternative after my DP remarked he thought the juice to bean ratio had increased. Think I'll try m&s after reading this thread!
