Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

Branston! Bloody tablet.

OnSecondThoughts · 01/03/2023 19:13

Yes, what NeedWineNow just said^. Cheap can of beans, add in a little worcester sauce, (and a squeeze of tomato puree, maybe a sprinkle of salt & black pepper) and they're as tasty as the dearest brands!

Dareisayimonetoo · 01/03/2023 19:21

Yes but we only have them occasionally. A few years ago after watching one of those eat well for less programs I tried cheaper alternatives but never found anything we liked. I will try the M&S ones.

LadyHarmby · 01/03/2023 19:23

Always buy Heinz

I am 🙈 haven't even tried other brands. Can't be arsed with the disappointment

If I can’t afford Heinz beans I won’t be buying beans

TheChosenTwo · 01/03/2023 19:27

Always buy Heinz beans (and ketchup) although they’re something that we have in the cupboard but rarely eat. Maybe once every month we’ll have jacket potatoes and someone will have beans, or if we have a proper cooked breakfast. But they’re definitely not a daily or even weekly staple. I probably bought some in the last month or so but I have no idea what they cost, didn’t realise they had gotten expensive to be honest.

Tontostitis · 01/03/2023 19:29

I bulk buy from Aldi and actually prefer them. I buy Aldi ketchup and M and S mayo is cheaper and nicer than Heinz.

Yes, still buying Heinz. I dislike baked beans, and DH prefers Heinz although I'm pretty sure in a blind taste test he wouldn't know the difference, he's just a brand bitch. He wants to pay for them, so I'll keep buying them.

Exactly the same here. 😂

We have moved onto Heinz ketchup recently even though I loathe the price. But it's just so much nicer than any other ketchup and I love my ketchup!

What sweetners?

Grow up hun...

APurpleSquirrel · 01/03/2023 19:36

We've swapped to Aldi - no-one has noticed much difference.

Bleurgh, I hate ketchup too! But still buy Heinz for the same reason 😂

AdventFridgeOfShame · 01/03/2023 19:38

Being slightly nerdy and bored, I have just scoured Morrisons and Waitrose sites for baked beans.
The only ones I could find with sweeteners in were the Heinz reduced sugar ones.
I could not find any brand which contained the 14 most common allergens. So no celery in any of them as it legally has to be declared.

I normally make my own baked beans. DH and DD get through about two tins a year, They are both adults so buy their own.

MyOtherUsernameIsDave · 01/03/2023 19:38

Asda baked beans are just as good. Not the low salt version. Wouldn’t buy anything else.

This is the second thread I’ve commented on beans. 🤔

Rebel2 · 01/03/2023 19:39

I am. Wish other brands did the snap pots
I don't eat enough for it to make a huge difference

Suzi888 · 01/03/2023 19:40

We prefer Aldi. Less sauce, more beans. We like Branston too.

elm26 · 01/03/2023 19:42

Heinz Beans and Ketchup always. I'll have own brand anything else but these!

RedToothBrush · 01/03/2023 19:42

Once you swop you've popped. And you'll never go back.

The Aldi coral bean ingredients list is the closest to Heinz. It's almost identical. No one else is.

If you don't buy them week in, week out there's no way you can tell.

Itsonlyagame · 01/03/2023 19:44

Been buying Aldi beans for years. Forgot to get a few weeks ago and had to get Heinz from the coop, they were awful, very watery. Will stick to Aldi in future.

Groutyonehereagain · 01/03/2023 19:44

We buy Lidl ones. We did blind tasting and we couldn’t tell the difference.

Misslings · 01/03/2023 19:44

No. Which is incredible. I was such a bean snob. The thought of another brand would make me wince. Not sure what it is as I’m not like it with anything else but I’m very funny about my beans 😂.

After persuasion from family members I very reluctantly started trying cheaper brands. Turns out I hated the mid ranged price beans. Just awful.

I tried the PROPERLY cheap ones. The ones that cost like 22p in Tesco and I actually LIKED them. Revelation. I’ll never buy Heinz again.

Moonshine86 · 01/03/2023 19:45

I now tolerate Aldi beans with cheese melted into it and a bit of pepper instead.

Redglitter · 01/03/2023 19:45

I far prefer Heinz do yes I'm still buying them

toodumbtosum · 01/03/2023 19:46

I do when on offer which seems to be often.

SouperNoodle · 01/03/2023 19:57

I've switched to Branston. £5.50 for 4 cans is vomit inducing

Crikeyalmighty · 01/03/2023 20:14

@BarbaraofSeville Yep- M&S and Waitrose soups are lovely.
