Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

100% heinz here

It's £4 for 4 cans of beans. Or 5.50 for 6. That's like 90p a can, I don't think that's extortionate and heinz are so much nicer than any other brand

Branston are too sweet and a bit too spiced for beans. They are wrong on so many levels. Aldi/own brand are just sweet no flavouring and watery. Anyone who says these are equal to heinz is lying

Heinz definitely deserve to be stove cooked not microwaved. They are more watery in the microwave but delicious beany texture on the stove

AllMouthButNoTrousers · 01/03/2023 20:15

No one does the beans and sausages like they do

I wait for them to be on special and then guard them at home so that no other fucker can have them

whiteroseredrose · 01/03/2023 20:17

@bellac11

I buy original Heinz beans with sugar. I don't like stevia, aspartame or saccharine etc.

Other makes may also only use sugar but I would need to read the label.

SallySunrise · 01/03/2023 20:18

Yeah but i look out for decent deals and stock up. We probably only get through 2 or 3 tins a month though so it's not a big expense.

Had to stop buying lurpak though 😢

Abraxan · 01/03/2023 20:19

We are.
We don't eat that many tbh and haven't enjoyed other brands in the same way. So we continue to buy Heinz beans.

stayathomer · 01/03/2023 20:24

Yes, we decided not to buy pizza this week and bought beans and waffles instead (I know it sounds strange but we literally said ‘well we really need beans, will we just leave the pizza?’ We’re not on a strict strict budget but trying not to have the horrendously priced but awful shopping we had the other week

stayathomer · 01/03/2023 20:24

Oops after all that it was bachelors!!! (But they’re nearly the same price!!) Sorry!

RedCarsGoFaster · 01/03/2023 20:26

No more Heinz beans here - the price is obscene and I can't believe they are sticking to those prices in the current climate. We've been on Lidl ketchup for years anyway - it's not as vinegary as Heinz is.

Heinz tomato soup though is the only one I like. We've tried all the alternatives in our area - Lidl, CoOp, Waitrose and the generics in B&M etc and they are all just bleurgh for me. Either too sickly sweet with sweetners, acidic or metallic.

RedCarsGoFaster · 01/03/2023 20:27

Oh anyway, Lidl beans are actually pretty good as are their beans and sausages.

Plenanna · 01/03/2023 20:27

I have to buy certain brands because of my allergies. Cheaper brands often put wheat in their beans. A loaf of wheat free bread is about £3.50 now, it’s bankrupting me.

Tekkentime · 01/03/2023 20:31

Don't like Heinz, their beans taste very artificial.

caz114 · 01/03/2023 18:11

As a matter of nosiness- at what price would you stop buying Heinz?

I think 75p is absolute upper limit. Although I'm perfectly fine with Branston too and they used to be around 50p a can. Not sure what they are now tbh. Heinz spag hoops £2 a can in Sainsbury's atm🤯

M&S beans are good

Many votes for M&S beans - will have to try them!

We buy Branston, much nicer! Heinz is too sweet and bloody expensive!

MyLittlePonyWellies · 01/03/2023 20:52

I don't like Heinz beans, but DH is adamant that all other brands are wrong 🙄. I rarely eat them, so get them for him. DCs seem to like them too, so I'm outnumbered

skywalkersweetie · 01/03/2023 20:56

DP will only eat the cheapest beans but I can't stand the taste of any other than Heinz!
They're just superior

Maryandherlamb · 01/03/2023 21:03

Used to be Branston, now it's tesco own. My son hasn't noticed, and I shove sriraja sauce in mine so tbh I haven't noticed either.

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 01/03/2023 21:03

Heinz are expensive, saw 4 for £4 recently. Used to eat Branston which are nicer (cheaper) but most recently we've been eating own brand from M&S (via Ocado) or Sainsburys.

Pebbles16 · 01/03/2023 21:07

I will never waiver fro =m Beans Means Heinz... would rather do without

TheOrigRights · 01/03/2023 21:11

Hell yeah! We don't eat them often, these have been here a few weeks. But when we want beans on toast we want Heinz beans on toast!

Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?
Comefromaway · 01/03/2023 21:14

i always buy Heinz. I eat loads of them. 2-3 tins per week.

PurpleReindeer2 · 01/03/2023 21:15

I don't buy them anymore. Too watery and too expensive.

PickAChew · 01/03/2023 21:16

I rarely eat them but DH often has them for breakfast and is happy with Waitrose or M&S own. We get the Waitrose essential ketchup, since the price of the heinz has become closer to all the fancy brands. It's tangier and less syrupy than the hrinz but the bottles are sometimes a bit difficult to squeeze without making a mess.

calimali · 01/03/2023 21:24

I bulk buy when they are on offer or get them from Farm Foods when we have a coupon.

It's not just their beans - the tomato and fruity sauces and all of the soup flavours have rocketed in price.

I am also shocked at the price of tinned rice pudding, and especially semolina - £2.20 in Asda!!! I bought a pack of semolina flour for £1 and make my own now.

HufflePuffllePuff · 01/03/2023 21:27

Stopped buying Heinz beans long ago after trying Branston which are far superior. Heinz has a thin sauce and little taste in comparison. They changed the recipe years ago IIRC as they weren't always like that,

Bit annoyed at the price at Branston now though. Tesco own brand were watery and tasted very like Heinz when I tried them recently so I'd advise anyone still buying Heinz to save over a £1 a tin and buy them!
