Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

Its Branston for me

Just came on to say that Branston baked beans are far superior to Heinz. I haven't bought Heinz in more than 15 years.

RingoDingoz · 01/03/2023 18:45

Still buying the beans but have officially stopped buying Heinz ketchup, which is a day I never thought would come! So there’s still a possibility that we’ll move away from them too.

I am… autistic child will only eat Heinz beans.

Velvetbee · 01/03/2023 18:46

Yes, autistic kids eat a can a day here. I’d give up a lot of other things before I incurred the stress of changing bean brands.

hennybeans · 01/03/2023 18:47

I really don’t like Heinz, too much watery thin sauce, no taste.
I usually buy Branston’s from Costco but they haven’t had any the last few times so I’ve switched to Sainsbury’s own. And even those I prefer over bland, watery Heinz. I think marketing has a lot to answer for.

Same here!

I haven’t bought Heinz beans for a couple of years. I tried all the own brand alternatives and settled for Tesco’s own. Perfect taste and consistency for me and so much cheaper.

Theres no E numbers in Branston

I'm so happy about that.

Check the sweetener names though...

I haven't bought name-brand beans for about 15 years. In fact, 80% of what I buy in the food shop is own-brand. (And I do about half of the shopping at Aldi anyway, so that is own-brand by default.)

Shmithecat2 · 01/03/2023 18:52

Yes, still buying Heinz. I dislike baked beans, and DH prefers Heinz although I'm pretty sure in a blind taste test he wouldn't know the difference, he's just a brand bitch. He wants to pay for them, so I'll keep buying them.

Grumpsy · 01/03/2023 18:53

Don’t like Heinz beans - been buying Branston for years

KnittedCardi · 01/03/2023 18:53

Me. Tried others and they just don't come close. It's a texture thing for me. So I buy them when on offer, which they always seem to be at the moment? Same with soups, always go back to Heinz. Now, ketchup we have traded down to Waitrose own, which is actually pretty good.

Seasider2017 · 01/03/2023 18:54

I still do, I ve tried Sainsbury’s own , Branson
just don’t like em

WhiteFire · 01/03/2023 18:55

Heinz here. M&S are ok, but prefer Heinz. Try to pay no more than £5 for 6 and fondly remember the days when I refused to pay more than 50p a can.

Talia99 · 01/03/2023 18:55

I need to try some other brands. It occurs to me I always pepper them so if Heinz does have a super special individual taste (yeah, right), I’m not getting the full benefit anyway.

I buy Heinz because my mother always bought Heinz and I don’t spend enough on beans to bother changing brands.

Clutterbugsmum · 01/03/2023 18:56

Yes, but then we don't eat them often, probably once a month if that. So I don't mind buying Heinz beans.

We have swapped Heinz soup to Tesco brand as the kids taste he difference and we eat more soup as the kids have it for lunch at school.

Badger1970 · 01/03/2023 18:58

Yes but we don't really eat a lot of them.

Eranzer · 01/03/2023 19:00

No chance. But then again, I usually buy Morrison's own as I think the sauce is thicker and they're generally nicer anyway.

Tiredmum100 · 01/03/2023 19:06

Yes I do. Dh always gets the reduced salt and sugar one, which just aren't as good.

mum2jakie · 01/03/2023 19:07

No, moved to Branston beans and even ditched Heinz ketchup and moved on to M&S own brand

RampantIvy · 01/03/2023 19:11

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 01/03/2023 17:47

Yes. And ketchup. The others are not a patch on them!

This ^^
But we don't eat them regularly anyway.

NeedWineNow · 01/03/2023 19:12

No way, Branch in for me preferably, although happy with Co-Op, Tesco or Sainsbury's. I usually chuck in some Worcester Sauce in the own brand ones to give them a bit of a kick.
