Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

We still buy Heinz because they don't have sweeteners. And habit.

slithytoveisascientist · 01/03/2023 18:30

We've switched to branston but could do with a cheaper alternative. Need a Heinz ketchup replacement too

Bbq1 · 01/03/2023 18:30

Yes but maybe not quite as often. None of us can bear Branston or any other brand. We'd rather pay out for something we enjoy.Dh and ds are ketchup experts and have found much better value alternatives to Heinz which taste just as good and in some cases even better.

No chance massive rip off. Waitrose or M&S

MistyMountainTop · 01/03/2023 18:32

No, I make my own using dried haricot beans - so much nicer tasting and better for you

scrumpf · 01/03/2023 18:33

Yes. I tried the others and I don't like them. I do buy own brand other groceries.

ouch321 · 01/03/2023 18:34

I moved to Branston back in 2009, they are so much tastier.

Can't believe 14 years later people are still buying Heinz.

LivesOnPigeonStreet · 01/03/2023 18:34

Too pricey for beans. I'll get beans if they are cheap as I have a DC who loves them but they aren't even particularly good for her so if the shop only has tins of beans for 1.40 each I'll just not bother.

WimbyAce · 01/03/2023 18:34

We have bought Branston for years but I'm desperate for a decent alternative as paying £3 for 4 now.

Essexexile · 01/03/2023 18:36

Still getting Heinz beans here, we eat them quite infrequently, not even once a week so I feel I can justify the cost, plus I’ve tried other brands and just don’t like them. Still buying Heinz ketchup too, for the same reason as beans.

I was always Heinz ketchup or nothing but have switched to Morrisons own reduced salt and sugar.

What do you mean by sweetners?

GiltEdges · 01/03/2023 18:36

Prefer Branston beans. Yes still buying them.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 01/03/2023 18:37

Nope. Aldi (or Branston if on offer, have found these are nicer).

catfunk · 01/03/2023 18:39

I buy the half cans because they're prefect portion size, otherwise branston. I can't bear own brand.

ApocalypseNowt · 01/03/2023 18:41

Nope. Go e down to supermarket own brand here.

BeansOnToast32 · 01/03/2023 18:42

Nope, can't stand Heinz anymore they are disgustingly watery and far too sweet imo.

Been buying Branston for years and I also get their tinned spaghetti and beans with sausages.

swimlyn · 01/03/2023 18:42

Sweeteners = E number chemicals.

Be ignorant at your peril!

Oblomov23 · 01/03/2023 18:42

Heinz bbq beans, haven't found an alternative yet.

Talia99 · 01/03/2023 18:42

Me but I’m only one person and use about 1 tin a month (only eat them as baked beans on toast and don’t have that often) so the price rise hasn’t really affected me. I did accidentally order the half sized cans in my last online supermarket shop because it never occurred to me that a can at that price wasn’t full sized which was annoying (but does mean I don’t have to have beans on toast twice in two or three days to use up the can).

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 01/03/2023 18:43

Only when they are on offer. Marks can produce and sell for 50p a can.
I have moved to own brand tommy k as well. It is something like a sixth of the price of Heinz

ShinyPikachu · 01/03/2023 18:43

DH loves baked beans but we switched from Heinz to Morrisons own brand years ago. The sauce in the Heinz one is too runny and he says he prefers the Morrisons one so much more.

Theres no E numbers in Branston

yentirb · 01/03/2023 18:44

Asdas own

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 01/03/2023 18:44

I'm happy to scrimp and save on other foodstuffs but Heinz beans are non-negotiable in our house.

We have tried other brands and don't like them.
