Is ANYONE still buying Heinz baked beans?

Just a light-hearted post.

As title says, just wondered if there was anyone out to there still buying Heinz baked beans? We all know the price of cans is now extortionate, and everyone I know seemed to have switched brands.

Surely they can't be getting the sales anymore to keep going?! 🤯

Not at all. Lidl (Newgate) and Aldi (Corale) taste better and much cheaper.
The sauce in Heinz is watery.

AuroraForever · 01/03/2023 18:14

Yes. Bloody love them and others just don’t compare.

Spanielsarepainless · 01/03/2023 18:15

Not since Lidl Simply ones came top in a taste test.

Stillonthemove · 01/03/2023 18:15

Much prefer Marks and they're still only 50p.

Epicstorm · 01/03/2023 18:15

Haven’t bought them since I tried Branson years ago. We prefer them and they’re cheaper.

We like Heinz tomato soup but I only buy if it’s on offer. £1.70 for a can of soup is ridiculous and will probably increase with the tomato shortage.

lmnabc · 01/03/2023 18:16

Yes but they are now a treat. Used to live on them

TerfIngOnTheBeach · 01/03/2023 18:17

totally still buying them, I buy them and ketchup from places like B&M. I don't eat enough of either to feel I need to substitute.

BarbaraofSeville · 01/03/2023 18:18

Baxters soup is much nicer than Heinz, but that's also really expensive but M&S and Waitrose own brand is almost identical to Baxters but only 65 p a can.

ThatFlightyTemptressAdventure · 01/03/2023 18:18

Another one still buying them.

pasta4metonight · 01/03/2023 18:18

Hate Heinz baked beans with a passion, too watery and sweet. I prefer Lidls 'Simply' or 'Newgate' brands, lovely sauce and beans cook up well. At 27p I'd try them if I ususally bought branded.

Our family haven’t bought them in 25 plus years, they are all sauce, no beans - very poor value for money. Branston or Cross & Blackwell every time and I’m sure the supermarket own brands are good too.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 01/03/2023 18:18

Funnily enough just last night I noticed my husband had put a four pack into the basket and when I saw the price I changed it to Tesco's own which halved the price!

Nomorescreentime · 01/03/2023 18:19

I’ve swapped to Aldi. I had a bit of an ick factor at trying a different brand of beans for some reason, but nobody in the house has noticed and I’ll stick with them now!

I’ve stopped buying cans of Diet Coke too. They are just a crazy price now.

I just used the last of our heinz beans tonight and honestly this just isn't true. And see my above post so it's not like I have some love for Heinz but the tin was absolutely bursting with beans..

SquigglePigs · 01/03/2023 18:20

Yes, they're the only ones I like. We've got a big tray from Costco before Christmas though which makes them marginally less painfully expensive. I'm horrified at the supermarket price for them now!!

Crikeyalmighty · 01/03/2023 18:20

M&S or Branston here

PurplePositivity · 01/03/2023 18:22

Haven't bought Heinz for years, it's Aldi's own for us. We always pimp or beans with cheese/chilli/peri peri etc so no need to buy most expensive.

PleaseJustText · 01/03/2023 18:23

We buys Heinz at Sainsburys or (if they're on offer) Branston. Beans just tastes like beans to me but DH has his preferences. Branston is first, Aldi second and Heinz third. Sainsburys beans are apparently so awful he'd rather go without 🤷🏻‍♀️

PleaseJustText · 01/03/2023 18:24

I’ve stopped buying cans of Diet Coke too. They are just a crazy price now.

We've stopped too and switched to a Soda Stream with Pepsi. Sooooo much cheaper. The only problem is that the supermarkets frequently run out of gas or syrups.

bellac11 · 01/03/2023 17:45

Its Branston for me

Yes, we buy Branston (in bulk from Costco).

ThatsGoingToHurt · 01/03/2023 18:25

I’ve ordered mine via Amazon subscribe and save. 6 tins of Heinz Beans for £5 and 6 tins of Heinz Tomato soup for £4.69.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 01/03/2023 18:25

M&S beans are good

jazzandh · 01/03/2023 18:27

swapped to Waitrose Essentials beans years ago.....when Ocado shifted to M&S tried theirs and no-one liked them - but recently Aldi have been ok.

Same with soups...thankfully my lot love the Aldi ranges!

The ingredients are pretty much identical so not sure how Heinz can justify their prices tbh.

olympicsrock · 01/03/2023 18:27

Yes - we get a multipack of the reduced sugar when they are on offer. Eat loads of them too.

LuciferRising · 01/03/2023 18:28

I use to eat them a lot but have started to be grossed out by them. Anyone found any that have far less sauce I hate the way the sauce spreads.
