...when it's not in use? I thought it was odd but thinking about it it would be good to have a clear worktop

Why would it make your worktop clear? What about your kettle, microwave etc? No I don’t.

HedwigIsMyDemon · 18/02/2023 22:16

Yes 😄. It’s only used occasionally and it’s nice to have it out of the way!

Cococomellonn · 18/02/2023 22:17

No

NannyR · 18/02/2023 22:17

I do. I don't eat toast that often that it warrants taking up valuable worktop space.

swapcicles · 18/02/2023 22:18

Think of the crumbs!
Not for me, I don't want to faff with moving a toaster and plugging it in. Then afterwards having to let it cool and remove all traces of crumbs before putting it back in the cupboard only to repeat it tomorrow, lifes too short!

3rdtimemomma · 18/02/2023 22:18

Yes! Only recently..... and it's the best decision I ever made! Lol

SwedishEdith · 18/02/2023 22:18

No. Would be a right ballache getting it out each time we needed it.

cpphelp · 18/02/2023 22:18

I would if I had space to

Littlepixie85 · 18/02/2023 22:18

Yes we do, microwave is also in a cupboard but plugged in from there so no need to move. Have the kettle out as it's used multiple times a day! Nice to have extra space as our counter space is limited.

Rodneyisaplonker · 18/02/2023 22:19

No, I don’t eat toast often but my husband does so it’s out.

Abouttimemum · 18/02/2023 22:19

No, but we use it regularly so it would be painful.

BodGaoithe · 18/02/2023 22:20

No, I’m not a Protestant. 😉

Passmethecrisps · 18/02/2023 22:20

No and I would never use valuable cupboard space. But the whole discussion makes me smile and recall the competitive kitchens of my mum and her pals in the 90s. Not a thing was left out at all.

we have toast daily. Sometimes multiple times. Toast is fab and deserves to be celebrated

Ohifyouinsist · 18/02/2023 22:23

I dont think so. The microwave is in the utility - that's radical enough for me Grin

Shampern · 18/02/2023 22:23

Yes, and we use it in the cupboard too. We stuck a heat shield onto the underside of the shelf above it.

Eas1lyd1stracted · 18/02/2023 22:23

My in laws do. I find it really really odd but it works for them and they keep a very tidy house with not the biggest kitchen. They unplug everything anyway. They don't have toast often. I keep mine out as we use it all the time

kennycat · 18/02/2023 22:23

Ours lives in a cupboard.
i like the surfaces as clear as possible
id love a boiler tap to get rid of the kettle but maybe if I get a new kitchen I can wangle one…

I love a clear surface bit it’s pretty impossible with my family. They are messy buggers.

SunsetStrip · 18/02/2023 22:26

Yes, I have no appliances on my work surfaces. I do have an appliance cupboard though. One appliance per shelf, so very easy to pull out and put back.

HaveYouSeenNancy · 18/02/2023 22:27

Yes, sometimes I've put it back in the cupboard before I've buttered my toast.

Snugglemonkey · 18/02/2023 22:27

When I had my kitchen done, we included an appliance garage. I love it. It has the kettle, toaster, the caddies for tea, coffee, sugar, the random herbal tea bag boxes, the nutribullet, the George foreman grill (on it's side, but easy to plug in) the toastie maker and the multi chopper thing.

It has a roller front and when I lift it, the toaster, kettle and nutribullet are permanently ready to go as there are plugs in there. The others I have to plug in as I want to use them. So much better use of space than a cupboard above a worktop.

Bimbleberries · 18/02/2023 22:29

this is Derry Girls all over again, isn't it!!

I do put mine in a cupboard now, but only because I am trying not to each much bread so it's better out of the way.

Coffeellama · 18/02/2023 22:16

Boiling water tap, built in microwave and toaster in the cupboard. I have NOTHING out

BMrs · 18/02/2023 22:31

Yes. Used to have it on a tray to avoid crumbs but new kitchen I had pantry cupboards that hide toaster, kettle etc and I love a clear kitchen side!

Coffeellama · 18/02/2023 22:32

Then you don’t need the space from putting the toaster away! Pointless extra job getting it out and putting it away in my
opinion.

RudsyFarmer · 18/02/2023 22:32

Yes. I only started doing it to show people around the house but it makes sense now as it’s only used for such a small amount of the day.
