Do you put your toaster in a cupboard

...when it's not in use? I thought it was odd but thinking about it it would be good to have a clear worktop

No - I find it very odd that people do this. But, as far as I am concerned, toast is food if the gods and so a toaster is a life essential.
Whereas I have never owned, or even used, a microwave!

I do. I don't eat toast that often that it warrants taking up valuable worktop space.

This.

yomellamoHelly · 18/02/2023 22:33

Yes. But we don't use it very often

When I had my kitchen done, we included an appliance garage. I love it. It has the kettle, toaster, the caddies for tea, coffee, sugar, the random herbal tea bag boxes, the nutribullet, the George foreman grill (on it's side, but easy to plug in) the toastie maker and the multi chopper thing.

It has a roller front and when I lift it, the toaster, kettle and nutribullet are permanently ready to go as there are plugs in there. The others I have to plug in as I want to use them. So much better use of space than a cupboard above a worktop.

Yes I would love that

MintJulia · 18/02/2023 22:35

No, but it's used every breakfast, and most evenings by ds for post-school snack, hot cross buns etc. so there wouldn't be much point.

FavouriteSlippers · 18/02/2023 22:35

Used to. Never crumb issues.
Cant now no cupboard space since moved

Nimbostratus100 · 18/02/2023 22:35

well we rarely eat toast, so it doesnt need to be sitting on the side ready all the time. Its in the cupboard

chachachachachanges · 18/02/2023 22:36

Yes. I like a clear counter top.
No microwave.
Toaster in cupboard, plugged in to a socket beneath the counter, so it stays plugged in all the time and just put it out to use it, zero faff.
No kettle since we got a fancy boiler tap.

OldTinHat · 18/02/2023 22:36

Yes! It's always lived in a cupboard.

Appin · 18/02/2023 22:36

Yes, always! We have integrated microwave and boiling water tap, so the toaster would look lonely out on the worktop all by itself!

mathanxiety · 18/02/2023 22:36

My toaster is permanently positioned on the counter near the bread board and butter dish and the kettle. I hate the thought of taking out and putting back an appliance that gets used multiple times a day.

Bairnsmum05 · 18/02/2023 22:37

Nope, only protestants do this 🤣🤣

PatientlyWaiting21 · 18/02/2023 22:37

toaster and kettle is kept in the cupboard, rarely used.

woodhill · 18/02/2023 22:38

My toaster is attractive though

2crossedout1 · 18/02/2023 22:38

Yes, it lives in a cupboard (plugged in) and we use it in there too.

Yes.

Even though I'm a Catholic.

@mathanxiety couldn't help myself 😂

I don't have a toaster, I'm not supposed to eat bread etc. so on the rare occasion I do, I just use the grill.

but I used to have a toaster & didn't put it in the cupboard. My cousin does & it's in & out all the bloody time spreading crumbs from here to next week!!

id have to put it in a tray of better still have one of those hatches that pulls down.

I say, embrace your toaster on your worktop!

HaveYouSeenNancy · 18/02/2023 22:41

I'm also a Catholic, but my kitchen's all Protestant like.

ElfDragon · 18/02/2023 22:41

Yes. I have a sliding base to a cupboard - toaster is plugged in and on base. Pull out, toast, then back in cupboard when I’ve finished making packed lunches/before we go out. Keeps the kitchen a bit clearer (have boiling water tap, so no kettle)

I don’t have a microwave, so the only gadget out permanently is the Kenwood, which gets used daily.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 18/02/2023 22:42

No. I make toast every morning and I'm lazy Grin

RaininSummer · 18/02/2023 22:43

No.i have 3verything I use regularly out on the worktop including toaster, microwave, nutribullet and instant pot

ManchesterGirl2 · 18/02/2023 22:43

No. I use it at least once a day. Waste of time putting it in and out.

naemates · 18/02/2023 22:44

I binned mine and we use the air fryer Blush
