I also notice the withdrawal from the ECHR threat is back.

And where is Sunak during the biggest round of strikes today?

In a fridge?

jgw1 · 06/02/2023 12:34

In a fridge?

I think he hides under his desk at no 10

So Sunak had a new lecturn made for outside no 10, do we think he had a new desk made, so that he can easily hide under it?

Fladdermus · 06/02/2023 12:49

I think it was on the LK sunday programme that a minster (Grant Shapps?) was going on about how the PM and government were working hard, talking with unions etc etc to try to resolve the strikes issue. The head of one of the unions (Unison?) was also on and she said this was outright lies that nobody from government has even spoken to them, let alone tried to resolve things, and how can you come to an agreement when the other side refuses to even come to the table.

Ministers may be meeting with unions, but they point blank refuse to talk about pay, so the meetings are pointless.

Maybe it has something to do with this

Tory 1922 Committee will consider rule change to allow no confidence vote after local elections

--> Amid fears of severe losses of council seats in May, many backbenchers believe Rishi Sunak could face a challenge

twitter.com/camillahmturner/status/1622559165452283904?t=SzWSWEcyLfrcynEG1JBJug&s=19

They are quite determined to reveal how dysfunctional they are.

Labour must be delighted with this. Even if Sunak manages to fight off leadership contenders it will only serve to highlight the breakdown within the party.
Then they'll lose a GE and change leadership again.

You are joking. Useless Truss had one made for her 49 days and it cost us more than £4,000.
And Sunak has gone for a new one?

I want a PM to come along and say 'I will use one we already have'.

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2023 13:10

Didn’t he spent over a million pound on a Downing Street garden sculpture?

I don't know anymore if I am joking.
At least lecturns come in cheaper than the media conference suite Boris had installed for his Presdiential press briefings.

Oh yes, and the briefer was going to be whatshername until the footage of her in the press room of her taking the piss out of lockdowns. Happy memories Hmm

Blossomtoes · 06/02/2023 14:05

The optics of Truss’ lectern were hilarious - twisted like a corkscrew, someone had a great sense of humour. They really are in suicide mode right now, aren’t they?

Quite shocking joking about illegal parties that did not happen. Of course she had to resign. Boris because he knows what a woman is (something disposable depending on his whims and what is expedient) acted quickly and decisively to resolve the matter.

Unlike Keir who had a beer.

I always thought it looked like it was doing a u-turn. Couldn’t have been more apt, for her.

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2023 14:48

When does the Partygate inquiry start?

Yes, but none of the male voices in that video egging her on and giving her ideas were sacked, were they?

Of course not. Goes to show Boris knows exactly what a woman is, a scapegoat and disposalable accessory.

But Jeremy Corbyn.

The Good Law Project are now looking into Sunak's tax affairs. He was a founding partner of a hedge fund, which is heavily involved in moderna, which has just been awarded a massive government contract. Sunak stepped down from the hedge fund when he became an MP and now refuses to say if he still benefits from it.
