But each one of those women are an individual so criticising celebs as a whole seems a bit odd.

It’s not just celebrities I have a problem with who rent a womb, I equally think it’s abhorrent for non celebrities to do so. It doesn’t matter that they’re ‘all individuals’; I have an issue with each and every individual who does it.

all very handmaids tale. Where are the birth mothers?

Spending the money they were paid.

From the Sun today......

The DJ opened up about her baby plans back in 2022.

Paris said at the time: "I'm getting tons of messages of people asking me about when I'm having a baby.

"The truth is. my husband and I wanted to enjoy our first year of marriage together as a couple and we were always planning on starting our family in 2023."

She added: "IVF is always a journey for everything but we're so fortunate that we have lots of healthy embryos ready and waiting to be part of our Cutesy Crew!

"As everyone knows I have an extremely busy work and travel schedule but nothing gets me more excited than becoming a mom in 2023!"

I don't get it, does this mean she used a surrogate because she was too busy to grow the baby herself ?

That's fair enough then. I just don't get the posters who critise celebs for it like they are one group

My point is I don't get why so many celebs use surrogates unless there is a medical need.

There's never a medical 'need' to have a child. There might be a desire, but having children isn't a need. Certainly there's never a need to rent a woman's womb.

Whichwhatnow · 25/01/2023 11:40

Season0fTheWitch · 25/01/2023 11:36

If you have experience then why are you so close minded? Surely you'd consider that Paris used a surrogate for medical or personal reasons? Surrogacy is legal and ethical, it's not taboo or a crime and she hasn't lied about it so why the fuss?

Is it fuck ethical.

No she means she has lots on but having a baby is what's most exciting

bathtublove · 25/01/2023 11:41

@Season0fTheWitch I have sympathy, it doesn't mean I agree with it though. I think when family or a friend is offering its genuinely out of love, but some celebrities seem to just take it because it's an option for them.
It's like they cba to do it?

Khloe Kardashian took that baby from its mummy, left it with a nanny and was out having a meal 12 hours later.

OMG the poor wee baby. Is this definitely true?

When one of Madonna's adopted babies arrived back at her London home, she was pictured leaving to go to the gym an hour or two later.

Wombs for rent. Rich women exploiting poor woman . Babies as a commodity.

Babies have been a commodity since the beginning of time. It's mentioned in the biblical old testament.

I can't have children. I could quite easily pay for a surrogate. I choose not to because ultimately it's not a need, it's a want. And my wants do not trump other women's rights.

Beercrispsandnuts · 25/01/2023 11:49

She will have used one of the top agencies, the women are not poor or exploited, in fact they are paid a fortune to do it. Base rates are often up to a hundred grand but all other expenses inc medical and all the treat boxes, massages etc make it often over quarter of a million cost.

this is the one the Baldwins were rumoured to use.

personally I believe in consent and as long as a woman has free will ie not coerced or desperate for money then I’m ok with this service being provided to infertile couples by a woman willing and happy to do it.

But you seem to be arguing that a woman doesn’t have the right to consent to carry a child for another couple. A woman does have this right, her body, her decision, it isn’t your decision.

ThisIsTotallyNewInformation · 25/01/2023 11:52

Meh it's like buying a handbag to people like her. Sad if you can't have kids, doesn't mean renting out another woman 's womb and putting her at risk is OK. At 41 she's too old anyway, maybe if she'd settled down sooner and not been gallivanting she'd have her own kids? Rich women (or men for that matter) shouldn't be allowed to buy babies.

I'm curious, are you also against all fertility and IVF treatment currently provided by the NHS, should we pay for things that are not a medical need but just what someone wants?

Whichwhatnow · 25/01/2023 11:53

Liorae · 25/01/2023 11:37

Spending the money they were paid.

Probably on rent or nursery fees for their other kids. Please do show me an example of a woman who's raking it in from surrogacy.

@bathtublove Was saying they think it's because the celeb can't be be arsed. I was saying there's way of knowing why they are doing it. I'm not agreeing with surrogacy or not. Just saying just because someone is a celeb doesn't mean it's because they couldn't be arsed.

So better not be able to pay the rent or nursery fees? You seem to think women in poverty have all the choices available to you.

MiniCooperLover · 25/01/2023 11:59

As someone who had IVF threads like these make me very uneasy! Why the nastiness. Yes OK she's wealthy, but we have no idea what she's gone through. As it is her mother has been quite open about them wanting children but her having fertility issues so it's none of our business. In the US they pay their surrogates and take care of their medical bills. More than we do over here.

amiold · 25/01/2023 12:00

She used a surrogate because she wanted to? Why do you care and what is it to you?

carmenitapink · 25/01/2023 12:00

She's 41.

Highly likely that she couldn't have children any other way.

Women & mothers get enough judgment from society, given that this is a woman's forum let's not bash her please without having any idea of her circumstances!

Fizbosshoes · 25/01/2023 12:04

Surrogacy is not a treatment for a medical need.
