I am sure this has probably be done before but I was listening to Caroline Hirons saying she did not wear cardigans as she felt it was something her Grandma wore. Though I do not agree I was just looking up future cruises and decided Saga not for me . It would be for older people (I am 63!!). I just imagine loads of white cauliflower hairstyles. I know it is ageist and unreasonable (I know they have jeople going from 55 years).what are you too young for????

WI - a friend suggested we join but I feel like I'm way too young to even consider it (I'm 48)

Deathraystare · 16/01/2023 21:26

I secretly still feel like a teenager inside. Thank god my size stops me from wearing their clothes!

I joined a local quilting group. The average age of the others there must have been 80 something.

my great Aunty used to say she didn’t like old people that much. She must have been around 80 at the time. 😆

gamerchick · 16/01/2023 21:33

I'm too young for tea and coffee. That's a grown up drink in my head

JackieDaws · 16/01/2023 21:34

Such ageism and internalised misogyny.

Bigoldmachine · 16/01/2023 21:35

I “had a fall” earlier, rather than just fell over! I’m not 40 yet!!

sleepwhenyouaredead · 16/01/2023 21:39

Hobbs clothes. I thought 30 years ago that they would be good for work when I qualified. Still think they are too old for me now!

AlwaysAReason · 16/01/2023 21:39

The Archers
😂

Noseylittlemoo · 16/01/2023 21:41

I feel like I'm not old enough for court shoes or handbags...in fact other than ballet flats I find it impossible to wear any shoes that don't have laces/strap and I feel I haven't grown up enough for slip on heels! (Even tho I'm just over 40)

TitInATrance · 16/01/2023 21:44

I’m the same age as OP and this month I’m too young for … U3A, Hendrix tribute nights, and being talked to as if I can’t use a computer (thanks, Barclays).

ComtesseDeSpair · 16/01/2023 21:52

Old People Music.

And then I realised, from the muted reaction upon on telling some (rather younger) colleagues I was going to a Pixies gig and had really enjoyed the last Placebo gig I went to, that I am absolutely, in their eyes, a connoisseur of Old Music People.

Deathraystare · 16/01/2023 21:53

@AlwaysAReason

Well my Sister in law is only a year or so younger than me but a huge Archers fan!!!

I am member of the Matchless Owners Club and I am the only member of our local branch who isn't a pensioner! Though the old chaps are very sweet.😁

RewildingAmbridge · 16/01/2023 21:57

I'm definitely old based on this thread, I love a cardigan and I've been listening to the archers for about twenty years, I'm in my thirties

QueSyrahSyrah · 16/01/2023 21:58

Not me, but my Great Aunt has recently sold her house to downsize. When it was suggested she consider buying somewhere in an 'assisted living' or retirement village type situation she scoffed, because they're for old people.

She's 81 Grin

Jellykat · 16/01/2023 22:00

I'm 8 months too young for my bus pass, cant wait, it'll save me loads! Smile

ShesThunderstorms · 16/01/2023 22:01

I've started putting radio 2 on instead of radio one. There was a time I'd have thought that was such an old person move!

My gran went into a care home in her early 80s. Said she hated it as it was "full of old people".

Minniem2020 · 16/01/2023 22:04

Not me but my 82 year old neighbour had to move into a residential home last year as she was struggling to live alone.
When I asked her if she had been spending time with some of the other residents her reply was that she'd tried but they were old boring buggers.

RJnomore1 · 16/01/2023 22:05

My nana passed away last month and the minister talked about how until covid struck she was well known for visiting the “old ones” who were housebound in the parish.

She would have been 104 in April 😃

Changechangychange · 16/01/2023 22:09

I spent today in what could only be described as “action slacks”. They are lined and very warm though, so I don’t care.

I’m too old for slippers (we are a shoes off house), but DM’s house is so cold that I will make an exception round there (nothing to do with cost of gas, it was freezing all through my childhood too, she just doesn’t turn the heating on).

QueSyrahSyrah · 16/01/2023 22:10

I'm too young to own a house (I'm 39).

I've managed to circumvent this problem to get on the property ladder by buying an apartment. If the washing machine breaks it's my problem, but if the roof blows off or a huge crack appears in the wall I can call a more adulty adult (the building management company) to help.

I listen to radio 2, I love Ken Bruce!!

My mum had a shopping trolley when she was at least 10 years younger than me (I'm 45) I know they're practical and you can get more modern (non basket/tartan) ones but I still feel I haven't reached that stage yet!

nex18 · 16/01/2023 22:15

I’m too young to know what bin day it is, that’s the sign of being a proper adult according to my dd.
