I am sure this has probably be done before but I was listening to Caroline Hirons saying she did not wear cardigans as she felt it was something her Grandma wore. Though I do not agree I was just looking up future cruises and decided Saga not for me . It would be for older people (I am 63!!). I just imagine loads of white cauliflower hairstyles. I know it is ageist and unreasonable (I know they have jeople going from 55 years).what are you too young for????

Hotter shoes- no way on gods earth will I wear those .I do actually need them for my wayward feet but I just cant bring myself to contemplate wearing them.

Going grey. I have tried but patchy grey just doesnt suit me . I still have dark eyebrows and pale skin so its really not a good look. Maybe when Im old enough -probably in 10 years time .

NannyGythaOgg · 16/01/2023 22:55

Coach holidays.

I went on one in December. 5 days in the Isle of Wight for less than £150, coach travel, ferry and 4 nights B,B and Evening Meal. Absolute bargain. I could only justify it because my companions have restricted mobility.

Totally an OAP thing (all OAPs 2 x 60+ and 1 x 70+)
Did (kinda) enjoy it - but won't be repeating.

My old neighbour used to crochet lap blankets for the old folk. She was 97.

Wearing a cardie is the least of Caroline Hirons problems!

RobertaFirmino · 16/01/2023 23:02

I feel as though some people need a good dose of HRT - Humour Replacement Therapy.

I'm too young for Hotter shoes. Yes, I'm 46 with arthritis but I feel as though I'm at least 30 years too young for that option.

Bowbellsx · 16/01/2023 23:04

Age is just a number I’m 33 and would rather chat with a older person more sense x

Fourcandleforkhandle · 16/01/2023 23:06

It's my Eldest Son's Birthday today. He has turned 20. I can't believe I have a 20 Year Old. I am 42 years old and know ofcourse there are Mums younger than me to 20+ year olds but it feels strange like I am too young ( except when I have knee pain)

Martha645 · 16/01/2023 23:08

I recently bought a cardigan but my husband was horrified - he says cardigans are "old people's clothes". I am 81.

my great Aunty used to say she didn’t like old people that much. She must have been around 80 at the time. 😆

Same with my grandma who is 80! Says all her similarly aged contemporaries do is whinge about their health problems and immigrants, she wants to feel young apparently so hangs out with a lot of 60-70 year olds 😂

Daydre4mer · 16/01/2023 23:13

Just wanted to say I’m amazed (in a good way) at all the more mature ladies on here! It’s funny as I picture everyone similar age to myself (almost 40’s)

Cats23 · 16/01/2023 23:22

An 86 yr old scoffed at the idea of attending the village ' Cake and coffee' group ( anyone can go) she replied ' I'm not sitting around talking to old nobs ' (Old nobs, as I found out , means 'Boring pensioners', not actual 'old men who act like old knobs')

My mum's the same.

She'll be 84 this year. We lost my dad a couple of years ago and she occasionally browses elderly dating sites and moans about how decrepit the men her own age look 😆.

Wear a cardigan! I love my lovely chunky ones, loads of people look great in them any age.

... Plus why in the world would you ever take style advice from CH. Buy a bright yellow/camouflage tracksuit, rag your hair up in a bun like you are getting another few days out of your wash, get your face dead shiny, basically look like ali g's mum waiting for the bus.
Wear the cardi.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 16/01/2023 23:33

Having cord things on my glasses. I'm constantly forgetting where I've left them but hanging them round my neck feels like crossing a line.

mellicauli · 16/01/2023 23:35

If Caroline Hirons wants to waste 30 minutes looking for her glasses after she's taken her jumper off, more fool her. (Or maybe she keeps them on a string around her neck?)

cowshindtail · 16/01/2023 23:35

I'm too young to like Michael Buble.I'm 66.

whiteroseredrose · 16/01/2023 23:36

The Nifty Fifties club at my local leisure centre. I'm 57 but most there are well into their 70s.

mellicauli · 16/01/2023 23:37

@Sweetpeasaremadeforbees snap!

Prettybutdumb · 16/01/2023 23:40

I find Boden clothing incredibly aging. Even the kids ones. I can’t walk past it in John Lewis or see it in catalogues (previous house owner must’ve been a customer) without flinching. If I’m ever caught in anything from them it’s a sign I gave up.

"Nifty Fifties"???! Are they serious? The people I know in their 50s are all at the top of their careers, energetic, switched on, fab social lives etc.

I'm genuinely amazed at that Grin

RustySprings · 16/01/2023 23:46

@Deathraystare You're right. I let a friend talk me into a Saga cruise and we were the youngest people on it ...at 60! I also declined an offer to join a Bridge Club...I don't feel old enough for that either...

MissingMoominMamma · 16/01/2023 23:46

Lots of people (including the surgeon!) told me I was too young for a hip replacement (couldn’t walk without crutches before my first op). Well I’ve had them both done now and it means I can run up hills, so 😝 to the folk who said I was too young!!

Bikerbabexx · 16/01/2023 23:47

My friend got a ‘three wheeler’ motorbike so I’d be more comfy and he’d be more stable. Haha lasted 6 months and we’re back to a proper bike. Though I can’t sling my leg over the back with the same abandon I once could 😂😂

Sasha07 · 16/01/2023 23:49

Great thread!
I'm too young to have teenagers! One who is about to do his GCSEs... I'm only 17 myself! (+20!)
Also way too young to always feel so cold! I never used to feel the cold! Since hitting 30, the cold seems to go straight to your bones! What's that all about?! 😁 Pass the slippers and lap blanket, I accept defeat!
