Do you know anyone who has been on a game show?!

Just that really! I'm sat here watching Supermarket Sweep and realised that I don't know anyone who has been on a game show! Have you or someone been on one and if so, did you win anything!?

My uncles friend was on tipping point. He was rubbish but we all had a good laugh.

My other friend was on coach trip back in the day.

I also went to filming of a quiz show hosted by Mark Williams (Arthur weasley) which was crap and the lottery one with nick knowles where they have to count out seconds or something. Break the safe maybe? We had to put all watches/phones into a secure area.

An old school friend was on The Price is Right, they won around £30k's worth of stuff including a luxury holiday and brand new car. They said it was a very long boring day of filming and there was a lot of retakes when the audience weren't clapping or "ooohhhing" enough etc.

I've just applied for The Chase!

Someone I went to school with was on The Chase. Never liked him at school, he was arrogant and thought he was hilarious, he came across the same on the show.

Someone I was at school with was on blind date.
However I didn't watch it as I only found out years later she had been on.

My sister was on Winner Takes All with Jimmy Tarbuck in the early 80’s. She lost.

I have been on four game shows, including The Chase. It was on just the other week!

My sons head teacher was once on who wants to be a millionaire and a former colleague of mine had been on eggheads

Someone I worked with was on the original 15 To 1 and was the first one out barely one minute in.

Which delighted me as he was an insufferable knowitall.

DH was on Junior Criss Cross Quiz eons ago. Was champion for five weeks as he never fails to tell anyone who will listen

A friend played against Mark on The Chase. He said the chasers are lovely off screen

Has anyone been on Blind Date? I want to hear about that!

Friend of mine , has been on most of the quiz shows , just last week was on mastermind

Someone I was at university with was on University Challenge - their team didn't win but he got lots of mileage out of playing the video to people afterwards!

A relative by marriage was on Family Fortunes in the Bob Monkhouse era - apparently there was a huge argument within the other family over one of the answers and they thought it might not get screened, but they edited that part out.

A work colleague in the 90s was on the Generation Game with Bruce Forsyth and said there was surprisingly little editing between what happened on set and what you see on TV.

I was on kids programme called Starstrider in the mid 80s, notable largely because it was presented by Jim Carter and Sylvester McCoy, later Mr Carson and Doctor Who respectively. It was filmed at Granada in Manchester and we were taken on a tour of the Coronation Street set and met some of the cast. It was the first time I’d stayed in a hotel!

Later, much later, I did Mastermind. Filmed in Salford, the hotel overlooked the new Corrie outdoor set. Won my heat, had an absolute ‘mare in the second round. Got down to the final stage of selection for Millionaire and then Covid came along in 2020. Didn’t make the final cut when the filming resumed.

Would still like to do Only Connect.

I was on a really crap one on Channel 5 in the 90s called Cryptogram. I won a combined electronic dictionary and thesaurus 🎉

Colleagues son was on ‘Blind Date’ he wasn’t chosen though.

An old work colleague was on Pointless about 6-8 years ago. Didn't get past the first round iirc.
An old uni friend was on a dating show about 15 years ago. I forget the exact name, but it was something like "4 first dates", and she went on 4 dinner dates with 4 different blokes. Nothing came of any of them.
A cousin was on one of those BBC Schools programmes back in the early 90s. I don't remember anything about it, other than there was one bit where she knocked on someones door and a barking dog made her jump! I should ask her about it!

The person I know was asked the million pound question.

No definitely not been asked that .

2 ex colleagues were on Eggheads. I can't remember how well they did but they didn't win lol.
