Just that really! I'm sat here watching Supermarket Sweep and realised that I don't know anyone who has been on a game show! Have you or someone been on one and if so, did you win anything!?

Yes and usually the same person has been on multiple. I know two who have been on three each

An ex-colleague was on some awful gameshow hosted by Joe Lycett.

A colleague was on Tipping Point.

The ex-wife of another colleague came second in the Mastermind final.

Did they get called? Did they know the answer?

Yes, he was called and unfortunately didn't know the answer.
The question was "what was Citizen Kane's first name".

A friend has been on Countdown. I've met one of last year's Countdown champions. A friend has been on The Chase

Hobbesmanc · 02/01/2023 10:50

I was a bit obsessed when I was younger. It was surprisingly easy to get on them if you had a bit of confidence

I did 15 to 1 when I was still at school. Going for Gold, Change That, Catchword.

Never made any money but I still have my Linda Barker transformed table lol.

I know someone who was on Countdown. Won quite a few in a row. I was WFH so used to watch them live and post on his Facebook.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 02/01/2023 10:53

Oh and a cousin was on Brain of Britain. Did pretty well apparently but I didn't listen. Didn't find out until afterwards.

MrsJackRackham · 02/01/2023 10:55

I was on Eggheads. Ex colleague was on fifteen to one and Rylan's radio quiz.
Another ex colleague won pop idol and is now locally quite famous. Horrible person.

A friend of my parents won her episode of Sale of the Century in the 70's! She regretted the prize she chose as she picked a hifi as her kids wanted one, it was out of date very quickly!

Kajamite · 02/01/2023 11:03

My gran was on Wheel of Fortune about 20 years ago! I think she won a dining set or something. She didn't actually get the physical set though, just the price equivalent in habitat vouchers

beeswa · 02/01/2023 11:06

I have a family member who has been on the chase, egg heads, and twice on university challenge

TheSingingBean · 02/01/2023 11:10

A friend of my OH was on Crystal Maze.

My cousin was on Weakest Link. Anne Robinson was very unpleasant, apparently.

My FIL was the phone a friend on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, it was for £125k and my FIL gave his answer and said he was 95% sure, the contestant decided not to go fot it and FIL was right! Still won £64k though but not going for it would haunt me.

Nimbostratus100 · 02/01/2023 11:36

I knew a few of the guests on Jeremy Kyle......

iklboo · 02/01/2023 11:38

I've been on Pointless & The Chase.

Iliveditwizbit · 02/01/2023 12:05

I worked in a restaurant in the 90s where lots of staff were jobbing actors / dancers. One of our regular customers worked in tv production. She’d regularly offer the waiting staff opportunities to go on dating shows, new reality tv shows etc. There was one bar man who took everything he was offered, blind date, quiz shows , loads of stuff. I never had the confidence, but he got loads of voiceover / spin off work.

MsFannySqueers · 02/01/2023 12:12

I once had some art work displayed in the ‘Gallery’ for Vision On does that count?

GoingtotheWinchester · 02/01/2023 12:15

A colleague was recently on Pointlrss and a friend was on First Dates a few years ago (does that count?) 😄.

FlirtyMelons · 02/01/2023 12:18

My cousin won £1m on a quiz show Chris Evans did, this was over 20 years ago now.

RicherThanYews · 02/01/2023 12:23

My biological sperm donor thought he was a very clever man and was determined to show the world how great he was, so he applied to go on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. He failed to get passed the phonecall questions.
My siblings sister in law went on Come Dine With Me (Wales) and assumed she would win so she spent £1k on artifical rolls of grass before she won. She did win though!

There were only 2 winners of pop idol, both from opposite ends of the UK so probably easy for people to work that one out lol.

FlirtyMelons · 02/01/2023 12:24

Oh and one is more than locally famous 😂

SecretVictoria · 02/01/2023 12:25

A primary school friends dad was on Big Break. Brothers old flat mate was on something called ’Brain Teaser’ on ch5. He won and he and my brother went to NY on holiday with the winnings (about £500 so flat mate paid for flights). An ex-colleague was on The Chase (their team won). A friend from years ago was on Eggheads, don’t think they won.
