And for friendly newspapers to endlessly print it on their front page to push a certain narrative.

Absolutely. Plucky underdog Government beating horrible lefty lawyers/judges/European people - worth every penny of £120 million 🙄

Oh dear. Poor Michelle might have to sell her luxury yacht and her kids their £1M houses. Deary me.

itsgettingweird · 19/12/2022 16:07

I read that as "sell her yacht and her kids" 🤣🤣🤣

I'm glad they are taking action against companies who didn't provide what they were contracted to provide.

Zonder · 19/12/2022 16:09

How many more of their mates' companies could they be taking action against if they truly cared?

DuncinToffee · 19/12/2022 20:52

Yvette Cooper

If you have only seen the "Government Wins on Rwanda" headlines, it really is worth watching and sharing @YvetteCooperMP's majestically comprehensive five-minute demolition of Suella Braverman on it

twitter.com/BestForBritain/status/1604878901582647296?t=ISfugjIXGMKNXDF4nwNeIw&s=19

£1 million per person to be deported to Rwanda

And they didn’t even take care over WHO they wished to deport. Even heavily pregnant women

OP posts:
Zonder · 19/12/2022 23:21

That's insane.

tobee · 19/12/2022 23:27

I watched that, it was, of course, brilliant. However, I just couldn't bring myself to listen to Braverman reply.

Notonthestairs · 20/12/2022 08:50

I hadn't realised that the cost of the Rwanda policy had risen to £140 million. Ridiculous to be writing blank cheques whilst simultaneously failing to prosecute traffickers and process applications.
As said they are just chasing headlines and the Rwanda policy is simply a very expensive distraction.

I note Will Quince is doing the media rounds this morning explaining how worried the Government are about the strikes - shame they didn't do something when they were warned in July.

As for taking legal action against Medpro I think it's a fig leaf. They still haven't withdrawn the whip from Mone and she's free to return to the Lords when she likes.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/12/2022 09:36

If every person the government wants to send to Rwanda takes them to court, the bill is going to be much much higher.

It's a very unfunny joke.

Jason118 · 20/12/2022 10:12

Which is why they'll change the law so they can't be taken to court!

And campaign to separate from the ECHR.

Checking in!

I'm a Presiding Officer and have my own polling station (get me!) The voter ID thing is going to be pretty hideous!

I think he's my inlaws MP. They wrote to him to complain about some tory fuckwittery once and he turned up on their doorstep to discuss the matter (ie get them to join the party). My inlaws look like prime tory recruits, apart from the fact they care about other people.

That all sounds very exciting!

Just back from being out (Xmas Wink) and trying to decipher the Sunak and the liaison committee.

Will Quince doing the media rounds? Surely he's a rude mechanical from A Midsummer Night's Dream?

Rishi Sunak has said the King’s coronation will showcase “the best of Britain” to the world after a year of global mockery

twitter.com/thetimes/status/1605488498869522432?t=GTW55gxNvCnCMGBq-113MQ&s=19

Sunak is understood to have been personally embarrassed by international mockery of Britain during a year that has brought protracted Tory infighting, an acrimonious leadership election and the brief and economically disastrous Liz Truss premiership

The man is a joke.

If spending £100 million on one man getting a new hat while the country's children starve and the elderly die on the pavement waiting for an ambulance is 'the best of Britain' then Britain needs an intervention. Now!

Seasons greetings.

I saw that card Notonthestairs, vile!

IClaudine · 21/12/2022 11:35

I thought that card was a spoof. But it is real. She really is a right wing psychopath.
