Does anyone remember my thread where I was upset about being accused of smelling of alcohol at work?

I can’t find it.

I followed everyone’s advice. I documented everything, I raised a grievance where I had a meeting with my manager and HR, I left the meeting feeling hopeful that things might be resolved.

They did nothing. They asked me to name any witnesses which I did. The witnesses haven’t been asked anything (they’d have told me if they had). Nothing has changed. I still feel uncomfortable AF at work.

Last week it was the birthday of one of the men I look after. I made him a birthday cake and brought it up to work.

I’ve since found out that I’ve been accused of lacing it with alcohol (which reacts negatively with his medication). Apparently she could taste it.

I’m gutted. I’m really worried about my reputation at work. I have no idea what I’ve done to deserve this.

I’ve written a letter to my boss and another staff member wrote a statement saying she ate the cake and it just tasted of cake.

I’ve sent the woman who said this a cease and desist letter, but posted it on Sunday and with the postal strikes I have no idea when she’ll get it.

I love the people I look after and cannot leave.

Going to speak to my boss today and ask for emergency annual leave. If he says no I’ll get a GP’s note.

I’ve been tossing and turning all night. My anxiety is through the roof. I have no idea where to go from here.

What do I do?

What a terrible time you've had - beggars belief why you've been the victim of this campaign - let us know how it goes.
Sounds like you need time off on sick as you.ve obviously suffered

Delandra · 03/01/2023 15:41

Feel like I’m the one under investigation.

The person doing the lying/harassing was in the office when I arrived on shift. She’d been in there for a while.

Really worried that I’ll be told I’m imagining it or something. Worried I won’t be believed. Or told I’m over reacting.

I have 12 minutes. Am so fucking stressed.

This experience has made me a different person.

This is completely normal to feel. I did too. You start questioning yourself. You worry that no one will believe you. Write down the things you want to say. Including the impact this is having on you. Then if you get emotional during the meeting you can read feom your notes. I would also follow up the meeting in an email where you state all the points raised in the meeting, including the impact on your physical ans mental wellbeing. Good luck. One foot in front of the other until you are out on the other side.

Hope it all went well OP, the whole situation sounds awful.

Greyarea12 · 03/01/2023 15:49

I remember your first post.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Sounds awful. I can sense your distress in your posts.

I'm glad your work are finally taking this seriously. This goes beyond bullying. This is harassment.

I hope the meeting goes well.

I know it must be awful and stressful and upsetting but just hold your ground, stand up for yourself and one day it will be in the past.

whynotwhatknot · 03/01/2023 15:50

hope the meeting is ok dont understand how this is blatant bullying yet you are under scrutiny

AutumnLeaves0 · 03/01/2023 15:53

Keeping my fingers cross for you! Xx

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 03/01/2023 15:57

Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of all of this palaver and you can get back to enjoying your work.

If I were you I'd take them to tribunal - find a good employment lawyer - get a settlement - and wipe your feet of the sorry lot - get an reference them start afresh

Dwrcegin · 03/01/2023 16:08

I read your updates on your last thread. How many allegations has this person made?

Hope your meeting went well.

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 03/01/2023 16:09

Don't go off on leave, this makes you look as though you have something to hide, put another complaint in asap.

bloodywhitecat · 03/01/2023 16:11

I hope it went well!

Kennykenkencat · 03/01/2023 16:12

Just on the off chance, although it does sound like bullying, but could there be something wrong with her.

i think the word is olfactory hallucination where you can smell or taste something that isn’t there

Kennykenkencat · 03/01/2023 16:13

just seen your update about being a recovering addict.

My guess is she is using again and deflecting on to you so all eyes are on you and nobody is noticing her odd behaviour.

honeyrider · 03/01/2023 16:15

Hope your meeting went well

MammaWeasel · 03/01/2023 16:16

I agree completely. I can say with near absolute certainty that she would fail a substance test.

Mugcake · 03/01/2023 16:25

I've read your threads and can't belive what some people will stoop to! Really hope the meeting went well 🙏

SummerWhisper · 03/01/2023 16:26

You can still join a union, whether or not the company recognises one. You can still have union representation. It's your right by law. I would join now and get some support and advice. As it's an ongoing / existing case, they cannot take it on but they can still advise and support. Join now!
