Does anyone remember my thread where I was upset about being accused of smelling of alcohol at work?

I can’t find it.

I followed everyone’s advice. I documented everything, I raised a grievance where I had a meeting with my manager and HR, I left the meeting feeling hopeful that things might be resolved.

They did nothing. They asked me to name any witnesses which I did. The witnesses haven’t been asked anything (they’d have told me if they had). Nothing has changed. I still feel uncomfortable AF at work.

Last week it was the birthday of one of the men I look after. I made him a birthday cake and brought it up to work.

I’ve since found out that I’ve been accused of lacing it with alcohol (which reacts negatively with his medication). Apparently she could taste it.

I’m gutted. I’m really worried about my reputation at work. I have no idea what I’ve done to deserve this.

I’ve written a letter to my boss and another staff member wrote a statement saying she ate the cake and it just tasted of cake.

I’ve sent the woman who said this a cease and desist letter, but posted it on Sunday and with the postal strikes I have no idea when she’ll get it.

I love the people I look after and cannot leave.

Going to speak to my boss today and ask for emergency annual leave. If he says no I’ll get a GP’s note.

I’ve been tossing and turning all night. My anxiety is through the roof. I have no idea where to go from here.

What do I do?

I'm not sure a letter from your GP will help your case at this point. Let your manager do their investigation into her untrue claims about your behaviour and take it from there. Your colleague obviously has a grudge against you.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 03/01/2023 14:46

I have grievance meeting in 15 minutes.

Shitting myself.

Posting because I’ve really appreciated everyone’s support.

Feel like I’m the one under investigation.

The person doing the lying/harassing was in the office when I arrived on shift. She’d been in there for a while.

Really worried that I’ll be told I’m imagining it or something. Worried I won’t be believed. Or told I’m over reacting.

I have 12 minutes. Am so fucking stressed.

This experience has made me a different person.

Good luck!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/01/2023 14:55

Just in terms of the impact on you, it's important to get it on record. You haven't made it up. If anyone tries to minimise it, that's up to them, but hopefully they will take you seriously

SkylightSkylight · 03/01/2023 14:57

Yes, I remember your previous post.

stay calm, but firm.

best wishes.

has anyone else ever said you smell of alcohol? I agree it's something you need to get checked out with your GP.

im diabetic & when my bloods are too high, I can smell like biscuits baking.

my 17 yo god daughter got in the car the other day, she wafted in smelling like alcohol. I asked what they'd been drinking and she said they hadn't. I believed her because she'd tell me if they had. A few minutes later I realised it was the cars screen wash, she'd just brought the smell in when she got in 🤪

Hopefully she'll get in bother & she'll get a new job 🤞🏼

SalviaOfficinalis · 03/01/2023 14:58

Let us know how the meeting goes OP. Sending best wishes.

Pinkbonbon · 03/01/2023 15:03

You should be speaking with the police. About everything. Vandalising your garden and hacking are crimes, as is harassment. At the very least, get whats going on on record.

You're being stalked by a malignant narcissist. She's totally unhinged and means you harm. Go to the police.

Cosycover · 03/01/2023 15:05

Really hope the meeting goes well for you. This is just plain bullying.

LookItsMeAgain · 03/01/2023 15:10

I'm hoping your meeting goes well for you too.

Take deep breaths and make sure you take notes.

the British governments since Thatcher have done a brilliant job of putting people off unions.
The ignorance about a) unions and b) how they can be useful for more things than just "dragging you out on strike" is astounding.

I'm at the stage where people say "no" i say "well give back the hard-won union rights you enjoy in the workplace, and try to get them on your own." and then just watch what happens to people like OP, because often the best advice we can offer here is: join a union.

She can't join a union if there isn't one!

ILovePigsInBlankets · 03/01/2023 15:13

I remember your previous thread.

This is way beyond just a work issue. Write down a log of everything that has happened - in and out of work- and report it all to the police. It's harassment and it's illegal.

MaggieFS · 03/01/2023 15:13

Agree with pp, stay calm. Don't let things be minimised. And then go to the police.

picklemewalnuts · 03/01/2023 15:15

I'm glad it's being addressed at work now, at least. I hope your meeting went well.

LavenderLewis · 03/01/2023 15:15

I hope things work out. However I do not understand why you have not informed the police with regard to the vandalism and hacking. You make some really big claims about this person but nothing seems substantiated or followed up. In all honesty I would leave and work elsewhere- life is really too short.

Deathraystare · 03/01/2023 15:16

Gosh I remember your post and wondered how things are for you. Wishing you luck.

Did you report the damage at home to the police?

Do the neighbours know there has been damage? Perhaps ask them to look out in case there is more of this going on.

Woeman · 03/01/2023 15:22

Good luck.

Proved my point. There is a union. Depending on what you do there is a union for everyone. Your employer (with very very few exceptions like the Army)

Unison is huge and covers loads of people.

Parrotid · 03/01/2023 15:24

Very good luck x

Facecream · 03/01/2023 15:28

Good luck OP

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/01/2023 15:30

I remember your post. I feel for you - I hope the meeting is held in a proper, professional manner and goes well for you.

Eastereggsboxedupready · 03/01/2023 15:33

Rooting for you op.
You have truth on your side remember..

notapizzaeater · 03/01/2023 15:34

Hope it went ok, ask for copies of the minutes to be sent to you.

Rainbowshit · 03/01/2023 15:37

Good luck
