What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

Exactly that really. What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

For me it's washing the dishes, putting it all away, and anti-bac'ing the kitchen tops.

I also make sure the living room is tidy, not necessarily clean, but tidy. So toys, discarded clothes, etc, put away at the end of the day.

This is going to be a fun thread. Almost as good as the ones about washing your feet!

MaryMollyPolly · 10/12/2022 09:04

None. There’s no cleaning task I would do without fail -not even washing the dishes. That usually gets done, but sometimes isn’t. I have never anti-bac’d any worktops in my life. You mean with anti-bac?

Lummikukka · 10/12/2022 09:05

Scoop the cat litter. Everything else fits in around when I have time / inclination / it needs doing.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 10/12/2022 09:07

Straighten the cushions on the sofa and tidy the sitting room every night before bed.

Load and unload the dishwasher.

Make the beds.

StrawberryPot · 10/12/2022 09:08

There isn't one I do every day without fail. Dishes are washed in the dishwasher which goes on when it's full. Other things get cleaned when they need it.

clary · 10/12/2022 09:11

I mean I hoover every day but I have a messy familg and a husband who gets mud everywhere from his walking boots. I don't suppose everyone else does.

Anti bac the worktops? I've never done that. Washing them as needed is fine. What do you use @RocketIceLollie?

CaramelizedNuts · 10/12/2022 09:11

Oh god more competitive hygiene

BabyFour2023 · 10/12/2022 09:12

The dishes
clean the kitchen worktops
hoover

Dilbertian · 10/12/2022 09:13

None whatsoever. Life is far too short and the dust/dishes/toys/laundry/whatever will still be there tomorrow.

There are only two things I will always clean ASAP and never leave: bodily fluids and poisons.

BabyFour2023 · 10/12/2022 09:13

Oh and clean the toilets and wipe down the bath after use

gianfrancogorgonzola · 10/12/2022 09:16

I can’t think of anything. wipe the worktops down after cooking? Dishwasher goes on when it’s full, not necessarily every day. Ditto any washing. I don’t do any cleaning or bed changing, we have weekly cleaners who do that.

WineIsMyCarb · 10/12/2022 09:16

Vacuuming the light fittings
Ironing a fresh set of napkins
Deep cleaning the drains
Pressure washing the patio

Cant sleep without knowing these essential jobs are done

RocketIceLollie · 10/12/2022 09:17

My preferred choice of kitchen antibac is Rhubarb Method. It just smells nice. As for why i clear the kitchen, it's because I don't like clutter in the kitchen. Same goes for the living room. Both take ten minutes max. At least two rooms relatively kept on top of and I feel like I'm winning. Just don't go upstairs....ha.

Dishwasher and picking thing up. I WFH but had to go to the office this week for a few days, came back late each night. By Thursday the house was a dustbin. I don't require showhome standards by any means, we are talking overflowing counter tops with washing up, bits of food (e.g. pizza slices) on the floor and trodden into the carpet, clothes all over the hallways where DC had just removed them and walked off, mud all over the living room etc etc. I had a bit of a meltdown at DH but he just says he's got different standards and I genuinely think he'd be happy to live like that. He just says I'm uptight because I don't want the house stinking of old food.

Hooverphobe · 10/12/2022 09:19

I scrub every inch of the house with a homemade hydrosulphic acid and bleach mix using a toothbrush and then liberally spray with zoflora.

anything less is disgusting.

As long as you do this at least three times a day you should be able to keep on top of things. 😁

CrunchyCarrot · 10/12/2022 09:26

Nothing 'without fail', but usually I will do the dishes (no dishwasher here!) if I don't want to see a sink filled with dirty dishes the next day! But there are times when I give them a miss.

Ponypitter · 10/12/2022 09:27

Without fail, all washing up done and put away, kitchen tops cleaned down. Sofa cushions and pillows straightened. Stuff put away (unless ongoing DC game / painting or whatever)

wickerhearth · 10/12/2022 09:28

Dishes, making the bed.

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/12/2022 09:29

Does flushing the toilet count?

Fleabigg · 10/12/2022 09:29

Wipe down the worktops. That’s a habit from when we had a cat, but that’s about it. Usually load up/unload the dishwasher but sometimes leave it to the next day if we really can’t be arsed.

LadybirdDaphne · 10/12/2022 09:30

Dishes, wipe kitchen surfaces, hoover/sweep kitchen, make beds, tidy toys in lounge, and more often than not some laundry. These get done every day, but DP and I share them.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/12/2022 09:31

Making the bed. Dishes.

Cookerhood · 10/12/2022 09:31

Anti bac? Nope never done that ever.
Making the bed. Is that pulling the duvet up? If so I sometimes do that.
Other than that, nothing. Life is too short.

MurderSheTyped · 10/12/2022 09:33

Dishes (emptying/reloading dishwasher)
Laundry
Vacuuming (mostly robot vacuum)
Straighten up the sitting room
Clean and tidy the kitchen
Clean Toilets and sinks

Sounds like a lot but I really struggle with this kind of thing. Mess affects my mental health negatively and I get overwhelmed by having a lot of things to do and end up not doing anything which makes it worse until I hit rock bottom and obsessively clean to the detriment of anything else for example phoning in sick from work to clean, not eating for days as I'm cleaning and ordering takeaway for the children.

Doing this list of jobs daily has made a huge difference to my life and happiness. I've got to the point where I can have a weekend off and not descend into chaos.
