What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

Exactly that really. What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

For me it's washing the dishes, putting it all away, and anti-bac'ing the kitchen tops.

I also make sure the living room is tidy, not necessarily clean, but tidy. So toys, discarded clothes, etc, put away at the end of the day.

The only thing I always do is anti bac spray and wipe down work surfaces every evening before I go to bed. I worry about someone getting ill. DH always loads and unloads dishwasher and puts away dishes. Vac only gets done 3 times a week. Dusting occasionally. Bathrooms only cleaned once a week.

As long as you do this at least three times a day you should be able to keep on top of things. 😁

@chercez and @Hooverphobe
you are both hilarious 🤣
I have finally found my people on here 😂

ps Hooverphobe .. your name could work so well for me too ..
I got a robotic hoover - fantastic- switch it on and job done 😉😉

Crumpleton · 10/12/2022 10:02

Any washing up/drying.
Clean the oven and hob if used...

Ifailed · 10/12/2022 10:02

A little hot water, washing up liquid, cloth. Wipe everything. Refresh water as needed. Never use a spray or anything anti-bac.

Washing-up liquid is a strong anti-bacterial.

LindaEllen · 10/12/2022 10:05

The only thing I do every day is bleach down the loo. Everything else is as and when needed.

DeadButDelicious · 10/12/2022 10:05

There isn't anything I do 'without fail' life gets in the way sometimes but generally, I make the beds, do the dishes and have a tidy round after DD has gone to bed so I can relax in peace. I consider those to be everyday jobs. I tend to clean and tidy as I go as it's just easier for me.

MintJulia · 10/12/2022 10:06

Clean the loo.

And tidy the kitchen I suppose, although I do that while waiting for the kettle to boil, so it doesn't really count.

StrawberryPot · 10/12/2022 10:06

*I’m always intrigued by this “cleaned when needed”

but at what point? When you notice it looks dirty? When it starts to smell? When there’s a speck of dirt? When it’s so dirty that it’s dangerous?!*

@Goodgrief82

You don't understand when it's needed? It depends on use and common sense.
One day there might be lots of us at home and I might do lots of cooking. In which case I'd probably anti-bac the kitchen surfaces several times. Another day we might be out/we may have a take away etc. So there may be no need to clean work surfaces.

Hooverphobe · 10/12/2022 10:07

@babbi me too. But the useless little twonk sent a message to my phone earlier. Something about trapped under the sofa and scared. I’ll send a small child in after him at some point.

MaryMollyPolly · 10/12/2022 10:11

Can I just get some clarification? When people are referring to antibac, do they mean those specially marketed as a spray or liquid as such? Or do they mean normal washing up liquid and water, which is also “antibacterial” by its very nature? The former is just pointless overpriced rubbish, the latter is fine.

Jelly4444 · 10/12/2022 10:11

Dishwasher
Making beds
Cleaning work tops
Clean toilets and sinks

But “needed” is surely objective!

needed from a hygiene perspective is very different from my and others perspective of it “needing” to be cleaned if we notice that there’s a streak or a few crumbs eyc

LightDrizzle · 10/12/2022 10:12

Wiping down kitchen surfaces.
Dealing with dirty dishes.

DaisyChristmasBauble · 10/12/2022 10:13

We have a dishwasher, however for anything which can’t go into that, we wash those every day. I wipe down the worktops and kitchen table, and I second that Method Rhubarb anti-bac smells divine. Apart from that there isn’t any other task I would do every day without fail.

WeWereInParis · 10/12/2022 10:13

Obviouspretzel · 10/12/2022 09:47

For the people who say you don't spray/anti bac your worktops, are you saying you wipe them down with soapy water instead? Or just don't wipe them at all? Because mine would be a state if I did nothing.

I use a soapy cloth.

Every day things we do are empty and stack the dishwasher, wash up anything that can't go in it, and wipe down the surfaces.

Goodgrief82 · 10/12/2022 10:13

“Common sense” doesn’t come in to my cleaning regime.

I clean way before it reaches the point that common sense ie you need to clean it in order for it to be hygienic!

Runnerduck34 · 10/12/2022 10:14

Hoover (2 dogs,4 kids)
Wipe down kitchen work surfaces
Load/ unload dishwasher
At least one load of washing

CallieQ · 10/12/2022 10:16

MaryMollyPolly · 10/12/2022 09:04

None. There’s no cleaning task I would do without fail -not even washing the dishes. That usually gets done, but sometimes isn’t. I have never anti-bac’d any worktops in my life. You mean with anti-bac?

Why start a thread about cleaning Confused

NewToWoo · 10/12/2022 09:51

Wipe the kitchen surfaces and dining room table thoroughly with antibac. I do it several times a day.

What on earth are you doing to your dining table that it requires a thorough clean with anti bac several times a day?? Surely it's just got a few crumbs or a splash of food on it at most?

Goodgrief82 · 10/12/2022 10:16

I’m not criticising!

just the “when needed” caught my eye

ichundich · 10/12/2022 10:16

Beds and dishwasher are the only ones.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 10/12/2022 10:17

I make my bed every day, because I like to come up to a nicely made bed each night when DD hasn't got there first

I fill the dishwasher as I go.

I usually give to loo a quick clean last thing, but only if I'm the last one going to bed.

Otherwise stuff gets done on a very ad hoc basis.

WhistlingInWhistler · 10/12/2022 10:19

Fill/empty the dishwasher, that's about it. I don't use anti bacterial products, they are unnecessary and often less effective than soap based products.

Lcb123 · 10/12/2022 10:20

Same as you do, apart from the anti bac (so unnecessary)

CallieQ · 10/12/2022 10:22

No one ever got ill from a work surface!
