What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

Exactly that really. What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

For me it's washing the dishes, putting it all away, and anti-bac'ing the kitchen tops.

I also make sure the living room is tidy, not necessarily clean, but tidy. So toys, discarded clothes, etc, put away at the end of the day.

This is going to be a fun thread. Almost as good as the ones about washing your feet!

@olympicsrock well, why open it just to sneer? It's not compulsory to open & post on every thread.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 19/03/2023 18:40

You don't need to anti-bac! It's not good for you or the environment.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 19/03/2023 22:44

Does locking the door when I go out count?

Comedycook · 19/03/2023 22:48

Do people really not wipe their kitchen counters every day? I'm quite the slattern and have low standards but that's grim.

Things I do everyday

At least one load of laundry in machine and hung on airer
Kitchen surfaces wiped
Dishwasher loaded and unloaded several times a day

OffToThatPlace · 19/03/2023 22:48

Clean the toilets and bathroom sinks
Use leave on shower spray
Wash the dishes etc and put away
Clean the kitchen table and worktops
Scoop and if needed clean and refill the litter trays.
Hoover if needed.

LuluBlakey1 · 19/03/2023 22:49

I always make sure there is a freshly ironed tray cloth incase MIL or a friend calls round for coffee.

Hooverphobe · 10/12/2022 13:53

I have a question about those. cleaning the toilet daily.

Do you rub shit onto the seat on a daily basis?

I ask, because I’ll pop in 4/5 times a day and yet - it’s still not an inch deep in piss and shit.

@Hooverphobe are you for real?

Comedycook · 19/03/2023 22:50

And no matter how tired I am, I try my absolute best to not leave dirty dishes in sink or on counters. It's absolutely horrible to wake up to a mess in the kitchen

MyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 19/03/2023 22:51

Every morning while making coffee, I tidy the kitchen, disinfect the counter tops and sweet the floor. Always feels better starting the day that way.

H34th · 19/03/2023 22:55

Make the bed
Tidy everywhere
Bleach toilet
Wipe kitchen worktops

IncessantNameChanger · 19/03/2023 22:57

Dishwasher without fail. 90% of time washing. But the dishwasher is without fail there is no choice. Washing I can leave but I always regret it if I do

Cookerhood · 19/03/2023 22:58

I'm not sure I've ever disinfected my counter tops but they are perfectly clean!

emmetgirl · 19/03/2023 22:58

None. Nobody says on their deathbed "I wish I'd done more cleaning"

What is a tray cloth?

A linen cloth you put on a tray when you serve coffee or tea to guests- often embroidered. Can't believe you're asking me that. There is a right and wrong way to iron them.

Comedycook · 19/03/2023 23:07

If someone came round for a coffee, I'd just make one and put it on the table. A proper tray and cloth sounds posh...like something Hyacinth Bucket would have 😉

DecommissionedVag · 19/03/2023 23:12

Washing up, putting dishes etc away and wiping down kitchen surfaces.

Plumping/straightening sofa cushions each night before bed.

Making my bed each morning.

Put bleach down the loo each night.

Pick up any dog poo from the patio and hose it down.

Rinse out soap residue from bath after my shower.

Flidina · 19/03/2023 23:13

Dishes, kitchen in general, surfaces, cooker top cleaned, empty bin etc
Bathroom, clean, sink, bath, toilet and floor (I have teenagers, it gets grimy🙄)
Have a good tidy up every day, put things away.
Hoover through out
Sounds a lot, but doesn't take long as I stay on top of it. Can't abide muck and clutter, sets my anxiety off.

emptythelitterbox · 19/03/2023 23:15

I don't know.

My housekeeper does it so everything is always clean.

Pestispeeved · 19/03/2023 23:19

Turn beds down.
Hot soapy water to clean counters.
Everything else is done as needed.

caringcarer · 20/03/2023 00:00

Load the dishwasher through the day and run it every evening. DH unloads first thing in morning when he is making me tea in bed.

caringcarer · 20/03/2023 00:03

Anti bacteria is just a spray to squirt on worktops. It only takes about 1 minute to squirt and wipe. I have 2 cats and one of them jumps up on worktop so I have to anti bac before making a sandwich etc.

Tlolljs · 20/03/2023 00:24

Make the bed. anti bac the worktops. Wash up. Plump up cushions and throws. Clean toilet.

Maybe they mean they don’t wipe all the surfaces every day. I probably clean the chopping board and surface around it 5 times a day, but why would I clean every bit of surface every day if they’re not used and not likely to gather dust in a day. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We put a wash on every day but to be honest I do as little housework as possible. We have a cleaner 3 times a week so our house is clean.

Amore2 · 20/03/2023 06:26

Almost without fail 😊:
make bed
dishes in dishwasher
kitchen surfaces wiped down (washing up liquid and water is enough mainly)
5 min tidy
Haven’t always dine this but massively helps my mental health
