What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

Exactly that really. What is one household cleaning task you do everyday without fail?

For me it's washing the dishes, putting it all away, and anti-bac'ing the kitchen tops.

I also make sure the living room is tidy, not necessarily clean, but tidy. So toys, discarded clothes, etc, put away at the end of the day.

Nothing gets done religiously every day. But then it’s just me and adult DS and he’s at work all day (I wfh). I have a dishwasher but that usually goes on every other day. I’m not good at “routines” so I’ll just do bits as and when.

DownToTheSeaAgain · 10/12/2022 10:26

Scoop up all the plates/ cups from teen DS bedrooms
Load of laundry
Make my bed so I can have a little snooze to get over these

Dishwasher.
I have never anti bacced my surfaces in my life. I'm in my 60s

Same.
I'm 59.

AriettyHomily · 10/12/2022 10:27

The only thing that has to happen every day is taking the dog out. The world won't collapse if I don't hover for a day or put the dishes away.

Ackity · 10/12/2022 10:31

Nothing.

Rockingcloggs · 10/12/2022 10:31

I have outbursts. They usually start at the beginning of November when our caravan has to close for winter! Then I am the cleanest, most motivated person in the world and my house is pristine. Come March when the caravan opens again then my house will be back to its 'summer self' where it's lucky if it gets a blast of air freshener. I lose all motivation come spring and cannot be arsed but, currently, it is spotless and I do all jobs daily! 🤣

StrawberryPot · 10/12/2022 10:35

@Goodgrief82

I'm not sure what your point is. But I would hope that everyone exercises their judgement over when something 'needs' to be cleaned rather than stick rigidly to their daily (or otherwise) routine.

Or are you saying that those who clean their work surfaces daily wouldn't do an extra clean or two if required? Confused

Lonelycrab · 10/12/2022 10:36

Right now it’s getting all the condensation off my upstairs windows every morning. Squeegee and a cloth does the trick.

Whyisitthiscoldalready · 10/12/2022 10:37

Literally none. I have a list of things I'd like to do daily without fail but it doesn't happen. I regularly come downstairs in the morning to unwashed dishes, toys everywhere and my desk a mess from the day before. By the time I finish work, cook dinner, get the kids to bed and prep everything for the next day I'm shattered. My plan for 2023 is to be better at this because I hate it

forwhatitsworth22 · 10/12/2022 10:39

Clean the oven and the washing machine and dishwasher, I feel anxious if I dont clean them

HellonHeels · 10/12/2022 10:42

WineIsMyCarb · 10/12/2022 09:16

Vacuuming the light fittings
Ironing a fresh set of napkins
Deep cleaning the drains
Pressure washing the patio

Cant sleep without knowing these essential jobs are done

😂

bluesky45 · 10/12/2022 10:45

None. Most days I do a wash load. Most days I iron and put clothes away. Most days I wipe the kitchen surfaces, clear the table, load/unload the dishwasher. But none of it is every day without fail. If I'm busy, or ill or just can't be bothered, it can always wait til tomorrow, the mess will still be there!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 10/12/2022 10:48

I wipe the kitchen worktops every day.

I'm barely holding it together with tonsillitis right now and I've just given them a quick going over.

The washing up can wait, though.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 10/12/2022 10:50

None. I feel like I’m doing well if I can manage to keep on top of household cleaning tasks enough to be doing them weekly, no chance of doing anything daily.

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 10/12/2022 10:55

Does getting dressed count?

Since lockdown we have let this place get so sloven. Can’t seem to care.

fairtrauchled · 10/12/2022 11:14

Make the beds
Wipe down kitchen surfaces
Wash all dishes either by hand or in the dishwasher
Straighten throws on sofas

Tirrrrred · 10/12/2022 11:19

I sometimes open the curtains. Not even kidding.

WillowintheUK · 10/12/2022 11:20

My bathroom handbasin gets cleaned morning and evening, and occasionally during the day. It is a thing of great beauty, chosen to complement the new bathroom we had done in the spring. Damn thing shows every bloody mark!

Fedupmum21 · 10/12/2022 11:22

Cleaning the kitchen in the morning- filling/emptying the dishwasher, anti bac the worktops and give the sink a quick rinse. I can handle the rest of the house being a bit mad but I hate not having a tidy kitchen when I need to start making dinner, or even worse having to tidy THEN make dinner- no thanks!

Theydoyaknow · 10/12/2022 11:27

I don’t think it’s fair to just on the anti vac thing. A lot of household cleaners and cleaning wipes have anti bac included.

I always make the beds, put on dishwasher , do a load of laundry and wipe down kitchen counters.

Hoovering and dusting…. Not so much.

I pretend I don’t see skirting boards!

Oblomov22 · 10/12/2022 11:35

Nothing. Dishwasher on, possibly. Never anti-bac'd ever.

I keep on top of things, day to day, so should someone be popping round it's clean within 1/2 an hour.

FinallyHere · 10/12/2022 11:42

Turn back the duvet to air the bed properly is the thing I do most days without even thinking about it.

Empty the dishwasher which usually runs overnight and put things away so I know where they are

Anything else that needs doing.

starlightstarligt · 10/12/2022 11:47

Make the beds, open curtains/blinds, that's prob the height of it haha I mean I love it when everything is all tidy and neat but I don't stress if it isn't ( I just get extremely irritated and stressed when I get unexpected visitors seeing my slattern-ness)

littlejo67 · 10/12/2022 11:49

Pick up dog shit on the patio before it gets trampled through the house, and make sure dishes aren't in the sink when I throw the tea dregs down the plughole 🫣

Always4Brenner · 10/12/2022 11:50

Tiny kitchen now so wipe down every night it only takes a few minutes dishes washed put away. Bathroom sink wiped as well.
