What was your local, shit club that you frequented in your youth?

Nc for this one 😁

Mine was Langtrys in Beckenham. Absolute shit hole. We used to get in from 15 years old as the bouncers just asked for our date of birth and star sign! Would sneak bottles of wine in hidden in the lining of coats. Loads of weird, pervy men. Constant fights. I shudder to think of dd in that environment but 13yo me thought it was amazing.

So many! Charlie Chans in Chingford, Hollywoods Romford, Dukes in Chelmsford, Ritzy in Tottenham, Faces Ilford, Time and Envy Romford, Pzaz in Grays. Dozens more - I used to go clubbing at least three times a week.

Blackpool in the 90s. Spent a lot of time at "the business" I think it was called. Had a good 70s night and a good cheesy pop night.

So many other places: "never on a sunday", and "the palace", we spent loads of time in Branigans. There was also a wine bar which was full of 6th formers and we used to drink jaegerbombs.

There was also a drag bar called funny girls that was quite good back then. My mate worked in the cafe opposite when we were still at school (so underage drinking). We'd get in for free no ID checks and she knew all the girls!

Also when school age There was a nightclub below the a hotel that had one of those very 80s style light up dance floors.

Pantiles in Bagshot - looked like a timber framed barn inside!
Mirage in Windsor, (previously named Blazers). Loved it there, they used to get all the big name DJs. Became notorious in 1999 after someone was shot dead on the dance floor ShockShockShock.

I'm not naming the one I went to (North West UK) but they had a 14-18's night every week and served alcohol to everyone! no ID checks ever- so I was 14 and hammered every week- this was mid 1980's- don't think they could get away with it these days- also it has shut down as a club - has been 'apartments' since the 2000's
I proper loved those nights out though Grin

Queen of Hearts (or 'Tarts' as we called it) in student central Fallowfield Manchester. Had a bad rep but we always had a blast in there. 2 bottles of Drifter for a £1 on Monday to Thursdays.
42nd Street, 5th Avenue or Jillys Rock world the rest of the time. Have to also give a shout out to the Friendship Inn for watching the footie, proper cask ale and mingling with the locals who kindly tolerated us students.

Oh God. Hollywoods in Romford! Hideous place that I’d mercifully forgotten. Also the Epping Forest Country Club in Abridge. My friend used to drag a very reluctant me to these. These were in my 30s but in my teen years it was all dancehalls. Namely the Tottenham Royal and the Ilford Palais.

My mum used to tell me glorious stories of going to Nero’s in Bath (owned by her friend Vera’s family!) with all her friends in the late ‘70s. Mr Benny sat outside with his cattle prod making sure he approved of all entrants.

In my very underage days I went first to the grimy Babylon - also Bath but awful concrete Southgate - and then to the Fire Station in Bristol Southmead where they pretended to believe that all the Saint Brendan’s Sixth Form College students’ fake IDs were genuine. God, that place was rough - but so many excellent memories!
