I can't decide on floor tiles for my kitchen, doors will be white shaker and I've decided on the work tops but am stuck on the flooring.
So would you have wood effect or the mottled one ?

I like the wood effect

longtompot · 26/11/2022 15:08

I prefer the wood effect

airwrapped · 26/11/2022 15:14

The wood, the other is too similar to the worktop

I was going to say the dark grey one that is already down 😅

picklemewalnuts · 26/11/2022 15:24

Wood. I'd usually say mottled, but it's too similar to the surface while not being the same.

samqueens · 26/11/2022 16:01

But OP hasn’t said what the worktops will be - has she?!

I’d go mottled - it’ll show the dirt less immediately, and I’m not a fan of the disconnect between “looks like wood feels like tile” (but I realise that’s probably just me!)

samqueens · 26/11/2022 16:02

Oh 🤦🏻‍♀️ Hadn’t seen the whole picture. Yes, mottled floor looks the same as worktop - that’s a no go

justasking111 · 26/11/2022 16:05

Not a great fan of the looks like planking in the kitchen, but not keen on the mottled either. I really need to see the kitchen units work tops to advise. Is it a North/south facing kitchen, light and bright or dark and gloomy

Me too 😁 of the 2 to choose from I'd say the wood effect.

LoobyDop · 26/11/2022 16:16

I also think the existing grey tiles look the best.

frozendaisy · 26/11/2022 16:17

Another vote for wood

Rauha · 26/11/2022 16:20

The existing ones are best (otherwise the wood effect one).

And me. I think you need more contrast. Sorry!

KnickerlessParsons · 26/11/2022 16:25

Il like the dark tiles - presumably the ones you want to replace 😁

This is the work top

The existing ones! If not, the wood

carefulcalculator · 26/11/2022 16:35

I think both the new tile options are too similar in colour to the worktop.

Newwardrobe · 26/11/2022 16:36

What about this work top with the mottled tile

It's so difficult to choose !

If you haven't bought the kitchen yet rethink the shaker doors. Look nice, but those little ledges drive me nuts now. Sticky kitchen steam, dust, and the joints make then a nightmare to keep clean, especially white ones.

Can't wait until my next kitchen (probably won't be able to convince dh it's due to be replaced for another 10 years), it won't be shaker style!

TommyandGina · 26/11/2022 16:40

I wouldn't have 2 colours so similar, is there a darker option in wood effect for the floor, or an alternative work top. It would be ideal to have 2 colours that have a bit of contrast rather than blending together.

Verite1 · 26/11/2022 16:40

I would definitely keep the originals. I’m afraid i don’t like either of your choices.

Verite1 · 26/11/2022 16:41

If I had to choose, I would say mottled on basis that I don’t like wood effect Lino/tiles.
