I can't decide on floor tiles for my kitchen, doors will be white shaker and I've decided on the work tops but am stuck on the flooring.
So would you have wood effect or the mottled one ?

I’ve got it to work. I’ve added a google image for inspiration too (I accept it’s an island but the simplicity is lovely!)

@Baxdream I agree, simple and classy.

@changeling2022 is your work top real life marble ?
I hope you don't mind but I'm going to copy your kitchen! Except I don't have an island or any of the other lovely bits you have x

I'm delighted! Kitchen is all Howdens. Including flooring, taps etc. worktop is granite. Tiles are B and Q Smile

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 15:21

I've looked at granite and it's a bit above my budget. Yours looks absolutely gorgeous .

@userxx It's the vinyl plank stuff. Like amtico but cheaper!

It looks fab, just seen your latest photo. Those tiles are amazing, are they slightly metallic ? Sorry for all the questions.

justasking111 · 27/11/2022 17:17

Whenever I see black granite I think of graveyards. What happens to it all when folks replace kitchens, is there a stone mason buying it up

changeling2022 · 27/11/2022 17:20

@userxx not metallic, just wood effect. Howdens do it in a load of slightly different colours, so we took samples of our carpet in to make sure it didn't clash

changeling2022 · 27/11/2022 17:21

@justasking111 when our builders took out our existing kitchen one of the guys asked what we were doing with the granite. We gave it to him and he took it home for his own kitchen. His wife was really pleased as it's what she always wanted to have. Which was nice

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 17:28

@changeling2022 is your flooring click together or the stick to the floor type?

You are now the official kitchen expert 🤣

I meant your wall tiles, I think it's just the way the lights reflected on the photo. I'll definitely keep howdens in mind for new flooring. 👍

Thank you again for all your help, I was honestly starting to get a bit panicky , it's a huge expense that I can't afford to cock up !

Once you start overthinking these things you'll be full of self doubt! I'm such it will look spectacular once done.

userxx · 27/11/2022 17:42

@changeling2022 You're a star. You do know that I'm going to copy your kitchen 😉

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 17:43

I was going to have one of those glass splash back thingies behind the hob but (I might as well go the whole hog in the copying front) I love your tiles @changeling2022

I'm most flattered Smile. Happy to give photos and costings for anything. Ours was only finished this summer

I'd definitely go for tiles over a splash back, I'll never have another splash back again. Bloody things.

The best thing in my new kitchen has been having a double butler sink and no draining board. It has meant one sink is for washing up and the other has a drainer inside. Most stuff goes in the dishwasher, but for the odd bits that are hand washed and pans etc, they drain off in the other sink. Never any clutter sitting on top of the draining board now.

That's good to know, I was a bit dubious as they seem a nightmare to clean !
