I can't decide on floor tiles for my kitchen, doors will be white shaker and I've decided on the work tops but am stuck on the flooring.
So would you have wood effect or the mottled one ?

Stick with the white doors.

IMO, you need to focus on the worktop and the floor. Get them right and everything else will fall into place.

Walls can be painted. Units can be painted. If you get the floor and worktops sorted, you have the ability to change up the look whenever you want by painting the walls and/or the units.

Excellent advice.

You can't paint your floors and worktop; not easily anyway.

My sister has a butcher-block worktop in a relatively dark stain; it's rather attractive. I'd still prefer marble with a shaker kitchen but if budget is an issue (and it is in my planned renovation which will feature shaker style) the wood worktop is not a bad option. But go darker rather than lighter for a more elegant look; same with the flooring. You will never regret a darker finish but that pale barn wood American style is going to age badly.

I have a white shaker kitchen, light wood floors and marble countertops - will pm you a couple of photos.

Oops. Sorry - can't seem to figure out how to pm a photo

IMO the effect is too bland. What else do you plan on having to give a contrast/texture/colour? (Sorry if this has been answered...i don't have time just now to RTWT)

I've got white shiney doors and butchers block at the moment and wanted something different.

I've decided to copy the lovely @changeling2022 kitchen , so am going for this , I might not have this exact work top but it will be white marble .

So envious of all the cupboard space! It's gorgeous, bet you're well chuffed.

userxx · 26/01/2023 20:22

Is that a splash back or tiles ?

Newhangers · 26/01/2023 22:03

It's tiles from B&Q , I have so many cupboards now , I haven't filled half of them ! I'm delighted with it .

Oh, those are the tiles someone suggested. I love them!

I'm sure they'll all soon be filled. What was your kitchen like before ?

Newhangers · 26/01/2023 22:40

I love a before and after!!! You've made my day.

What a transformation, I bet you couldn't imagine it turning out as amazing as it has done, not that there was anything wrong with your old kitchen, but this new improved one is beautiful.

Newwardrobe · 27/01/2023 21:39

@userxx I think my old kitchen was an acquired taste 🤣 The new one has turned out better than expected thanks to @changeling2022 for the inspiration and everyone's advice.

It's so beautiful. I really don't think you'll regret it. Congratulations on getting it completed

sevenbyseven · 29/01/2023 11:56

The new kitchen looks great but I actually quite like the old one too! It looks very new - was it installed by you or by the previous owners?

Newwardrobe · 03/02/2023 20:13

@sevenbyseven the old kitchen was installed by the previous owners, it wasn't as great as it looks, the worktops were lifting and the doors were holding on by a wing and a prayer . Also lots of the cupboards were really narrow and I couldn't get much in them .
