I can't decide on floor tiles for my kitchen, doors will be white shaker and I've decided on the work tops but am stuck on the flooring.
So would you have wood effect or the mottled one ?

Agree with the darker worktops. I've been having a play in the visualiser & really like both of these, probably with the mottled floor tile...

We have sage green with golden oak worktop, it looks really nice.

Spirini · 27/11/2022 11:05

That work top is horrible, very dated. Go a much much whiter colour

Ditto the tiles, both horrible. Go for semi solid wood

Sorry op

@Newwardrobe for some reason I can't see Pms! Did you want a picture of mine?

Ooh that's gorgeous!

Thank you Smile. I'm really happy with it. The floor doesn't show any spills. I don't think I'll get bored with the kitchen either. Previously had black sparkly granite and a cream gloss kitchen which I was glad to get rid of

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 13:11

@changeling2022 Are the doors white?

We have wood effect porcelain tiles like those in our extension. I absolutely love them and have never wished I'd chosen something different.

The mottled ones look like they belong in a department store to me. No offence to anyone who has them (or to department stores) 😬

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 13:35

I thought I'd decided on the work tops but now don't like them , it's so hard to choose especially when I can't see them in a real kitchen.
Im also having second thoughts on white doors 😩 Starting to panic .

Yes white doors. I'd stick with them

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 13:45

I'm leaning towards this with a darker floor

White doors will be fine, it’s a classic look and okay date. I have shaker style and I don’t find them a problem to keep clean, I really like it. Personally I’d go for a darker worktop – either wood or black granite. People are afraid of wooden worktops but I adore mine — it’s been properly treated so it doesn’t get stained and it looks better and better with age. I would never have anything else now.

Don’t like either of the floor options I’m afraid, the existing tiles are definitely better.

What's the rest of your house like?

Pretty nondescript! It's not a period property , more modern.

I went for white because my house is painted white throughout and all the doors are white etc. my carpets are the same colour as the kitchen floor and the hall is also tiled, so the flow works. Have you had a look at instagram and Pinterest?

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 14:39

I have lots of white too , mainly (as you have gathered by now) because I'm hopeless at interior design 🤣

Newwardrobe · 27/11/2022 14:44

I've looked at Pinterest and instagram but all the kitchens are dark blue, grey or absolutely huge , which always makes them look fab .

I love that flooring, is it real wood or one of those fancy luxury vinyl's.

Baxdream · 27/11/2022 14:54

I wouldn't go for grey units - they're already out of date. I think you've made the decision with white but the worktops and flooring are wrong (sorry!) I'd go for a white worktop of some description, like the attached, with wood floor

Baxdream · 27/11/2022 14:55

Sorry photo won't attach but the venato!

Baxdream · 27/11/2022 15:00

I’ve got it to work. I’ve added a google image for inspiration too (I accept it’s an island but the simplicity is lovely!)
