I can't decide on floor tiles for my kitchen, doors will be white shaker and I've decided on the work tops but am stuck on the flooring.
So would you have wood effect or the mottled one ?

If you haven't bought the kitchen yet rethink the shaker doors. Look nice, but those little ledges drive me nuts now. Sticky kitchen steam, dust, and the joints make then a nightmare to keep clean, especially white ones.

Can't wait until my next kitchen (probably won't be able to convince dh it's due to be replaced for another 10 years), it won't be shaker style!

Oh god , it's too late, kitchen's been ordered 😩

I don't think I'd choose either as the colour is too similar to the worktop. I think I'd go with rag stone flooring.

wickerhearth · 26/11/2022 16:45

The dark tiles looks beds imo.

Sorry 🤣 Shaker does look amazing though!

I loved my shaker in my last house and the next one here will be a shaker too.

Newwardrobe · 26/11/2022 16:54

Any thoughts on the wood worktop and mottled tiles?

Defo the wood looks nice

justasking111 · 26/11/2022 16:57

Get some more samples @Newwardrobe don't rush it

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 26/11/2022 17:00

The tiles you have look the best... I know it's not what you want to hear but the 2 you've chosen are too similar to the worktop. If you must go wood effect go much darker.

samqueens · 26/11/2022 17:01

Yes, more samples. They are all a bit similar at the moment

chevvyroo · 26/11/2022 17:03

I also think the existing grey looks much nicer. It's providing attractive contrast.

Newwardrobe · 26/11/2022 17:04

Would the wood worktop look nice with darker mottled tiles?

DilemmaDelilah · 26/11/2022 17:08

Wood effect definitely! That's what we've got 😁. Whatever you get, don't go for a light grout. The first time you spill Bolognese sauce or beetroot on it you will regret it!

caringcarer · 26/11/2022 17:10

Existing tiles very nice colour. If not damaged I'd keep them.

TakeMe2Insanity · 26/11/2022 17:10

If you can absolutely get underfloor heating. Tiles secrete cold.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/11/2022 17:11

Another one who prefers the existing floors with your unit options.

justasking111 · 26/11/2022 17:14

White shaker with rich tea biscuit worktops and floor just don't work imo. www.homesandgardens.com/kitchens/should-a-kitchen-floor-be-lighter-or-darker-than-cabinets

Good advice here

sevenbyseven · 26/11/2022 17:15
  1. Dark tiles, 2. Wood, 3. Mottled.
GirlOfTudor · 26/11/2022 17:20

I also like the grey that's already down. The new choices with the white cupboards would make the room feel cold.

Furries · 26/11/2022 17:21

I prefer the wood effect.

OP, I understand why you don’t like your existing tiles. I had similar and they are an absolute bugger to keep looking clean!

MajesticWhine · 26/11/2022 17:28

They will both look nice. Don't worry about it. Probably the wood effect.

Newwardrobe · 26/11/2022 17:31

I'm thinking the wood effect work top and darker tiles . I like mottled as they are easy to keep clean looking. The existing tiles never look clean, even after a hands and knees scrubbing brush clean.

I was going to say the dark grey one that is already down 😅

Yes! I’m certainly prefer the existing floor.

changeling2022 · 26/11/2022 17:51

I've got what looks like the same kitchen units and also the tiled floor, the wood tile floor. It goes really well. However I've got a white marble work surface

I'm thinking marble now too , I don't think I like the examples I've shown 😩
