Anyone else ill with a nasty cold/virus?

I feel so shit. I have an incredibly sore throat, pain killers hardly touch the pain. Hot and cold shivering, can’t get warm enough. Aches all over my body.

18mo DS is poorly too, just so sad and very warm.

Anyone else suffering too?

My DH had this before any of us and it’s taken him about 5 days to feel better though the sore throat still lingers. Hopefully it doesn’t take us too long either.

Me! I feel absolutely awful. I had to cancel my clinic today & that means 20+ women didn’t get seen. Agh.

I have been in bed for 2 days. I feel appalling to be honest.

Makemineadecafplease · 23/11/2022 21:47

Not just me then, I have had a cold since Monday. I feel so achy and yes Paracetamol does not touch the headaches, I have been indoors for the past 48hours. I can't wait for it to be over. Feel so tired of it.

PinkPlantCase · 23/11/2022 21:49

It’s so rubbish isn’t it! I really just want to be a labour to crack on with work, lucky other people can pick up things for me but it’s very frustrating.

DS managed most of the day at nursery today but I don’t think it’s fair to send him tomorrow. But I also don’t think I’m well enough to care for him unless he’s happy just on the sofa. But also seems so silly for DH to be off with him when he’s already had a few days off sick this week.

I can't get warm enough either no matter how much I wrap up. I have spend a lot of hours on the bed with an electric blanket.

An electric blanket sounds amazing!

I’ve been feeling “off” since the beginning of the month but in the last week or so I’ve gotten worse - the sore throat is the worst symptom and I am in quite a lot of pain almost constantly. As you say, painkillers barely touch the pain!

Makemineadecafplease · 23/11/2022 21:51

It's the best decision I have made this year... it is really amazing

OrangePomander · 23/11/2022 21:52

Me too. I’m on the sofa covered in blankets and just can’t get warm. Then every so often I’ll have a fever. It’s miserable.

OrangePomander · 23/11/2022 21:53

And everything aches.

PinkPlantCase · 23/11/2022 21:55

I have a fat feather duvet and a fluffy blanket folded over me twice.

Wishing you all a speedy recovery

Yesterday I had 2 coffees and 3 cups of teas. Today I downsized to only 2 cups of tea and one coffee. Just to soothe my throat and keep my insides warm.

I am so glad I am not alone feeling like this.

Noodles0580 · 23/11/2022 21:56

Yes - awful. 5/6 days now of ear nose throat issues and have sores in my mouth. Get well soon all

Makemineadecafplease · 23/11/2022 21:57

I love fluffy bankets!

janglealltheway · 23/11/2022 22:00

Yes! Sore throat, high temperature, aching all over, bit of a cough, really weak. Thankfully I feel slightly better now but the past two days I felt really terrible.

PositiveLife · 23/11/2022 22:04

Yes, I feel awful. Dd1 got it first and passed it on to me. I took today off work even though it means I will lose a day's pay cos I feel so bad. I'm hot and cold, full of snot, sleepy and achey. Dd1 had it for 4 days and seems a bit better tonight so I'm hoping to be ok by the weekend, though I'm going to have to work tomorrow (wfh) cos I can't afford more time off.

User3456 · 23/11/2022 22:20

Lots of it about sadly, I know people with the mystery bug, don't think it's covid as they have tested (although of course lateral flows don't always pick it up). As well as covid, there's flu, RSV etc doing the rounds. Covid is damaging our immune systems and means we can't fight other things off as well as previously. When you start going out again wear a mask (FFP2 or better will protect both you and others), even when you're recovered from this you will be prone to picking up other bugs for a while unfortunately. One of my friends had 3 bugs since the start of October, it's not good ☹️
We need HEPA filters in schools and nurseries as well to reduce the spread of viruses there too and staff to mask up if they have any cold symptoms. The little ones can't protect themselves.
In the meantime lots of rest, a decent vitamin pill and lots of fluids. Take the time to rest to reduce risk of post viral complications.
Hope you feel better soon 💐

It sounds like tonsillitis to me?

allboysherebutme · 23/11/2022 22:38

All had it here, can't shift the cough or chest infection, two lots of antibiotics and still have a cough and chest infection. X
I think Covid has mutated into another virus.
(No positive tests) but similar symptoms. X

We re all getting it in my school. I ve been ill for 2 weeks, horrible cold and hot and cold feeling awful headache and a miserable cough.
I have had to be at work as its parent/teacher consultations.
Every day I count the hours till I m back in bed with vicks and a hot water bottle.
And my son who works in retail had it too.
Hope we re all better soon

Mercy1968 · 23/11/2022 23:33

Forgot to say the tiredness is unreal and my house is an absolute pigsty 😒

McFuggy · 23/11/2022 23:36

Yes, I've had it for 2 weeks now. It started like a flu for a week, then a constant cough, now it's like a sinus infection.

I'm thoroughly sick of it. No cold and flu drugs or other otc painkillers are touching it.

Redwineandroses · 23/11/2022 23:36

PinkPlantCase · 23/11/2022 22:42

I don’t have any tonsils!

Unfortunately you can still get it even when tonsils are removed 😌

Susieblue18 · 23/11/2022 23:38

Yep, started with mucus sensation in throat during the night, then sore throat, bad cough, sneezing, runny nose etc. Been a bit better the past few days but now have a constant headache. 🤒

TheBeesKnee · 23/11/2022 23:43

Yes, awful! This is my third cold/bug this season. My throat is raw, my chest kind of burns. I'm pregnant and have been vomiting a fair bit recently, so it's hard to say if these symptoms are caused, or worsened by, the morning sickness.

Also exhausted and keep going to bed between meetings 😭
