Anyone else ill with a nasty cold/virus?

I feel so shit. I have an incredibly sore throat, pain killers hardly touch the pain. Hot and cold shivering, can’t get warm enough. Aches all over my body.

18mo DS is poorly too, just so sad and very warm.

Anyone else suffering too?

My DH had this before any of us and it’s taken him about 5 days to feel better though the sore throat still lingers. Hopefully it doesn’t take us too long either.

24 hrs of Penicillin and feeling improved. If you've had this for more than 3 weeks, worth considering...

I agree with this. I got ill on 12 November with heavy cold and sinus symptoms. Then got tonsillitis which was thought to be viral. Still not better so I had five days of penicillin and now on amoxicillin and making progress at last. I've missed a lot of work. Get checked in case you need further prescription meds. Or ask a Pharmacist.

Hmmmm I've not started to develop a rash on my chest - could be scarlet fever? I'm so fed up of being ill 🤒

I'm so fed up of being ill.

Full of a cold 4 weeks ago and had an awful dry tickle cough since, it’s now at the point the bottom of my back is really sore and I wee when I cough 🙈 that’s only started about 4 days ago.

yesterday I started with diarrhoea and throwing up with morning, but think that is completely unrelated to the coughing.

managed to get a phone appointment with the doctor tonight, can’t get myself to the walk in because I’m dizzy when sat/stood up

Still have nasty virus
sore throat- very bad- lasting over a week
now thick catarrh haven’t had a stinker like this for years

oakleaffy · 19/12/2022 14:02

Also dizzy!
notice others have dizziness?!

Hughsrunning · 19/12/2022 14:34

I'm HugHeart from further up the thread - finally getting better. I'd dizziness - the virus lingered after the amoxicillin tackled the secondary bacterial infection. I'm so tired and ordered to rest by GP. Appetite slowly returning.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 19/12/2022 14:54

My DD has all these symptoms. She has Covid.

Hughsrunning · 19/12/2022 15:42

I tested negative for Covid, as did the rest of the family when they had it. I think mine might be an RSV virus but who knows?

rumbypumby · 19/12/2022 15:48

So I'm on day 7 of

Painful chesty cough with wheezing
Sleeping all the time
Feel wobbly when standing up or getting out of bed
Clogged painful ear/congested sinuses
Runny blocked nose with green snot
Severe muscle aches
Sore throat with swollen tonsils
Weird red dots in my mouth and tongue
Crushing headache
Chills and fever up to 39 degrees
Stomach pains as described by PP as hunger but amplified but no appetite at all and when I do eat I have diarrhoea.

I spoke to the doc today who gave me throat spray and a cough bottle and asked me to wait a few days to see if I get any better before giving me antibiotics for possible ear infection

When did people start to feel better from this? My dh has come down with this as well now and the kids all have a version of it although not as bad as me or dh thankfully

Hughsrunning · 19/12/2022 15:53

@rumbypumby I have this - but temp didn't go over 38 degrees and no chesty cough. Got it 12 November - sinus issues, viral infection. Then viral tonsillitis but underlying bacterial infection of sinuses. Penicillin, amoxicillin, now just recovering from residual virus. Tonsils still a bit swollen but appetite returning and feel better. It's been a very long slog - I was run down going into it. Just run over now 😂.

Hughsrunning · 19/12/2022 15:56

I had the red dots as well and the headaches, earpopping and no appetite/diarrhoea. Exhausted. Been off work a lot.

White patches on tonsils in my case.

rumbypumby · 22/12/2022 23:50

I ended up getting antibiotics for severe ear infection which ruptured the ear drum. Still dealing with the residual cough, snotty nose and general fatigue.
